JRAD is seeking candidates for a Science Laboratory Technician position providing full time onsite support at the Plum Island Animal Disease Center located on Plum Island, NY. Roles/Responsibilities: The Science Laboratory Technician will assist with managing the laboratory close-out process so as to enable terminal decontamination. This is anticipated to include activities such as coordinating lab space clean-out and closures in advance of decontamination activities, assisting with the coordination of autoclave-related activities and other functions which will help render the laboratory spaces in a ready state for appropriate fumigation and decontamination. The position shall also assist with supporting the development of validated decontamination regimes and approaches (e.g., biological indicator placement oversight). Job Description • Perform all regulatory responsibilities in compliance with applicable regulatory standards. • Perform support activities for all aspects of the in-life phase of rodent and non-rodent safety studies including, but not limited to, sample tube/container labelling, sample shipment and receipt, transport of data to archives, preparation of pathology lab sample containers, assist in the preparation of pathology slides and blocks for archiving, organize slides for microscopic review, preparation of formulation lab dosing containers etc. • Perform a self-review of all work activities for accuracy and completeness. • Adhere to all applicable company and unit policies and procedures. • Maintain clean and orderly work areas. • Lift up to 50 pounds. • Participate in the culture of continuous improvement. • Perform other activities as directed by management. • Overtime work may be required. • Must stay within GxP compliance at all times.
