We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team. This role is focused on the design and development of rugged, high-performance electronics used in mission-critical defense applications with a strong emphasis on PCB layout and design. Experience or interest in RF circuit and antenna design is a significant plus.
The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of electronics design, with the ability to contribute across the full product development lifecycle-from concept and prototyping through production and sustainment.

Supports integration and testing of developed products to ensure reliable functionality. Participates and leads developmental and verification testing, including extensive electromagnetic and environmental testing to enable rapid response to emergent Navy and national requirements.
Work with Project Lead(s) to analyze and refine requirements, perform alternative solutions by research and investigation, and identify technical risks.
Develop prototypes (in concert with technicians, as necessary) to prove out prototype designs
Coordinate with mechanical engineers regarding the integration of designs into customized mechanical packages
Develop documentation of design solutions and adhere to established configuration management processes

Responsibilities
* RFIC Design & Methodology - Design, simulate, and validate mmW/RF/Analog building blocks (LNAs, mixers, TIAs, VCOs, PLLs, LOGENs, etc.), while developing robust methodologies and design flows for the team.
* Design-Technology Co-Optimization (DTCO) - Partner with technology development teams to push transistor-level feasibility and achieve PPA (power, performance, area) breakthroughs in advanced nodes.
* Silicon Validation - Collaborate with test engineers to drive accurate silicon-to-simulation correlation, debugging, and optimization.
* Electromagnetic Simulation - Create and validate EM isolation methodologies for on-chip, package, and PCB integration.
* Mentorship - Initially operate as an independent contributor; gradually mentor junior designers and foster a culture of innovation.
Minimum Qualifications
* Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
* 15+ years direct experience in mmW/RF/Analog circuit design for wireless/communication applications.
* Proven tape-out experience and direct involvement in delivering commercial designs.
* Strong understanding of RFIC fundamentals (noise, linearity, stability, mismatches, power efficiency, impairments).
* Expertise in tools: Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre RF, ADS, MATLAB, EMX, HFSS.
* Solid knowledge of semiconductor device physics and process technology.
* Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate system requirements into design specifications.
* Excellent communication skills and willingness to work across Taiwan and U.S. teams.
Preferred Qualifications
* Ph.D. with strong publication record (patents, journals, conferences).
* Familiarity with RF transceiver architectures and design trade-offs.
* Experience in mixed-signal verification methodologies.
* Proficiency in Python/Perl/Tcl for design automation.
* Prior exposure to AI/ML-based design optimization.
* Knowledge of reliability analysis (EM, IR-drop, thermal effects) and design for testability.
* Familiarity with semiconductor ecosystem.

What you will do
As a senior level team member of the iMPACT Fly Team, you will be responsible for traveling 75-100% of the time to and assisting JCI Customers at all levels of building automation system programming, checkout and commissioning.
This will include validating hardware and software commissioning activities for building automation systems. You will need to apply your advanced HVAC & Building Automation experience to work on assigned projects.

Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
A. Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

B. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.

The Physical Side of the Role: This is an active, hands-on role. You can expect to be on your feet frequently, navigating active job sites with uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and hoists. Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
A. Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

B. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
GS-11: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal service, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skill, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience: Examples of this experience includes: Modeling and simulation professional theories, concepts, principles, techniques, and practices of computer engineering, electronics engineering and/or computer science.
GS-12: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skill, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience: Examples of this experience includes: Leading and/or performing engineering work involving electronic circuits, circuit elements and equipment systems; applying a number of diverse electronics engineering practices, techniques and processes to identify and resolve complex engineering issues; supporting the planning, testing and troubleshooting of electronics engineering systems or devices; and, developing computer aided engineering analysis and tools in support of planning and designing applications.
GS-13: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skill, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Review, test, and troubleshoot industrial process control system elements including, but not limited to, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and programmable logic controllers (PLCs), field wiring, I/O configuration, sensors and instrumentation, network communications, pneumatic systems, and panel and device wiring/cabling
Conduct technical reviews of design packages created by others to assess compliance with applicable Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), electrical codes, and regulations, as well as end-user requirements

Prepare technical memoranda/reports that summarize information, such as requirements or the basis of design
