The Controls Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and optimizing the control and automation systems at Sonoco's Paper Mill. 2. Demonstrates an understanding of the project management plan (PMP) and is involved in support and execution of the plan. Essential Functions
Work with electrical and I&C design team for water/wastewater projects including treatment plants and pump stations
Design, size, and specify electrical and I&C equipment
Conduct technical evaluations and support planning and design of electrical and control systems
Prepare and review technical memoranda, proposals, reports, drawings, specifications, and contract documents
Provide field services and support investigations as needed
Assist with documentation and support for facility startup and commissioning
Collaborate with clients, utility owners, and multidisciplinary project teams
Develop detailed engineering cost estimates
Travel occasionally for short durations as required
Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field
Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Electrical and Control System
4+ years of progressive experience in electrical or I&C systems design, construction, and commissioning for water and wastewater facilities
Control panel design and instrumentation selection
PLC and SCADA systems design
Electrical/I&C drawings development
Piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) development
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Project, Excel, PowerPoint)
AutoCAD, SCADA systems including PLCs, HMI software, servers, and workstations
Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and NFPA 820 codes
Strong technical writing and communication abilities
Excellent organizational and documentation skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Problem-solving mindset with a focus on practical solutions

Assist the Superintendent and Project Manager in the implementation of EIG's policies and the execution of the project.

Preparation, maintenance, and implementation of various document control entities such as daily reports, material procurement logs, submittal logs, as-builts, testing and inspection logs, RFI logs, and change order logs.

Summary
The Process Control Engineer position: provides technological and engineering expertise for the implementation of new process control technology and equipment; evaluates and resolves problems with existing process control systems utilizing vendor and/or mill maintenance support when necessary; designs and programs changes to the existing process control systems as needed. * Engages in development of short and long-term planning of system upgrades and migrations.

Required Experience
