Essential Responsibilities
Design standard jobs with guidance to match client specifications and requirements
Draft electrical construction drawings using AutoCAD in conjunction with our wiring teams
Gain design knowledge to engineer various control and relay panels
Work with your Supervisor and the Project Management team to help interpret project write-ups, client specifications, drawings, and other correspondence during the life of the project
Create and validate Bills of Materials for client submittal and approval per Powell Standards
Complete self-design reviews to verify accuracy and completeness of designs before issuing projects to Powell's manufacturing floor for construction
Gain the ability to provide technical support in client meetings
Coordinate with purchasing and suppliers to specify & approve component parts and assemblies
Provide prompt notification to supervisor and project management for issues that impact scope, budget, and schedule
Coordinate with the electrical design team for the final design and construction package to include schematics and wiring diagrams of the project
Create AC and DC schematics, door component layouts, wiring diagrams, and communication drawings for project approval, construction and As-Built's drawing submittals
Provide technical support as necessary for sales, application engineering, and inspection teams throughout the life of the project
Assist fellow production engineers in solving problems on a daily basis
Adhere to Powell's policies and procedures, work instructions, ISO policies, Safety Rules and Regulations
Meet regularly with clients, suppliers and OEMs

Perform and guide analysis efforts to:
Simulate and evaluate performance of passive thermal control systems for future NASA vehicles and habitats including the Orion spacecraft and vehicles capable of lunar or Mars missions.
Develop thermal models of space hardware or test equipment using Thermal Desktop analysis software and first principal models with standard desktop software.
Correlate thermal models to flight and test results.
Assisting in day-to-day activities including internal NASA JSC task and work package planning, technical evaluations, hardware development and verification, reviewing and providing input related to products and documentation to partners and programs.
Work to provide solutions to problems that arise during hardware development and on-orbit operation phases. Assisting in the identification of anomalies and providing engineering recommendations, as required, for resolution of associated issues.
Participation in various aspects of integration of the Orion vehicle systems and vehicles Orion docks with, including technical reviews, operation plans, review of contractor provided data to close technical requirements, including waivers and exceptions.
Provide passive thermal control guidance supporting a broad range of inter-disciplinary - development, design, test, and verification activities, including Program boards, panels, working groups, problem resolution teams, and other technical forums to ensure hardware performance meets all specified requirements.
Support testing and inspection activities at vehicle build site
Inspection activities require experience with PTCS related hardware installs as well as proactive work ethic to work with floor technicians to identify hardware issues which are identified and which are not yet identified or missed
Proactively work with people across various LM and NASA sites and orgs to resolve test, hardware install and integration issues while briefing Orion senior management on impact to schedule or changes in flight response
Perform other duties as assigned.

The Position:
As an Instrumentation and Controls Designer, you will be responsible to develop and analyze control systems, instrumentation, and related equipment. Your expertise will be essential in designing components and terminations for complete instrumentation interconnect wiring diagrams, ensuring proper connectivity and functionality. Your main objective will be to create detailed designs, plans, and specifications for the construction and installation of new systems, as well as the modification and upgrade of existing ones while working closely with a team of engineers and project managers. Position Responsibilities:

Provide computer-aided design (CAD) drafting, prepare drawings and schematics derived from a variety of specifications, layouts, vendor data, and sketches
