The Data Center Engineering Analytics and Modeling (DCEAM) organization is seeking a Power Systems Engineer to lead grid to rack electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulations for AI data centers. You will develop detailed MV/LV power system models from the utility source through the IT load to analyze transient performance, harmonic distortion, protection, grounding, and UPS-generator interactions. These models will be used to ensure power quality, stability, and reliability across all operating modes. You will support projects from site selection and design through commissioning and integrated systems testing (IST), working closely with design, operations, vendor, and utility teams.

+ Conduct Power Quality Studies: Flicker / Voltage Step Analysis; Harmonic / Resonance scans and filter application; Inrush / Ferroresonance; Converter Limited Fault Behavior; Power Factor Correction.
+ Conduct Steady-State Analysis: Load flow / Voltage Drop; Short Circuit / Equipment Evaluation; Protection & Coordination; Arc Flash Hazard Analysis; Grounding Study
+ Support generator and UPS vendor coordination for paralleling, synchronization, and control system stability.
+ Generate FMU models for multi-domain simulations
+ Establish modeling standards, libraries, QA, version control; automate cases, sweeps, and reporting.
+ Review vendor black-box models; document assumptions and deliver clear, actionable reports.
+ Ensure compliance with internal security, data handling, and licensing policies for tools and models.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, controls, commissioning, etc.) to ensure electrical system stability under dynamic load profiles.
+ Author study reports and technical memos for design review and operational readiness.
**Minimum Requirements**
+ BS in Electrical Engineering (power systems or power electronics); 3-5+ years EMT studies.
+ Proficiency in one or more: PSCAD/EMTDC, EMTP-RV, PowerFactory (EMT), ATP-EMTP, Simulink/Simscape.
+ Experience modeling UPS/inverters and synchronous generators; transformer saturation/inrush.
+ Knowledge of protection basics, grounding, harmonics, converter controls (PLL, current/voltage loops).
+ Ability to interpret one-lines, settings, control block diagrams, and test data.
+ Scripting for automation/data analysis (Python, MATLAB, or similar).
+ Familiarity with standards: IEEE 519, IEEE 1453/IEC 61000-4-15, IEC 61000 series, NEC/NFPA 70 or IEC 60364, IEEE C37.

+ Experience working with OEM data (Eaton, Schneider, ABB, Vertiv, Cummins, MTU).

Devises new approaches to problems encountered.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Prepares plans, layouts, design calculations, and related engineering design work in accordance Company standards, applicable codes, ordinances and regulations. Develops new or improved techniques and procedures for equipment, material, products, or methods.
Performs project engineering and project management functions on major capital projects for Hawaiian. Works with City/County, State, and Federal government agencies on rules, regulations and permits regarding projects.
Conducts engineering studies, prepares reports, and reviews/comments on technical reports and studies prepared by others.
Prepares requests for proposal for engineering services, evaluates proposals and makes recommendations. Directs design efforts by consultants and checks designs prepared by consultants.
Prepares material, equipment construction specifications for bid, and evaluates proposals and makes recommendations for purchase.
Develops project schedules and project cost estimates for inclusion in the capital budget.
Conducts field inspections to verify field conditions and check compliance with specifications, then prepares reports of findings.
Participates in Company emergency response and other Company activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response.

BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
A. Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

B. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Researching and gathering information
Work with CAD equipment and software creating, modifying, and finalizing electrical engineering drawings for construction projects and design reports
Prepare final drawings, checking dimensions, consistency of information between drawings and for completeness
Prepare electrical specifications following client required format
Conform to the established filing system for all documents
Follow design standards for city, state and federal projects as required
Prepare periodic project status reports
Reviewing contract requirements to understand deliverables under each phase
Revising documents per Client comments and in-house review
Preparing submission packages per the contract requirements
Provide marketing and technical support
Present and speak for the department at meetings
Travel to job sites for site investigations and inspections
