DUTIES:
Service, maintain, repair, install and test new or existing equipment and verify conformance to specifications. (Robot/Welding/Fixtures)
Complete repairs, modifications and installations as required.
Provide plant support in troubleshooting of process problems including root cause and completes quality improvements as required to maintain part standards of quality. Establish cross functional team for reliability issues
Deal extensively with production team and other support groups as well as vendors (both parts suppliers and equipment suppliers).
Department support for testing, repairing and calibrating electric or electronic components. Validates reliability issues with components and investigates repeat component failures.
Enter all breakdown details into the Maintenance PM database by end of shift
Carries out preventative maintenance procedures as laid out by CBAM and the manufacturer's specifications.
Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction activities; repairs and systems improvements (optimization). Documents improvements and analysis data, ensure swift and effective implementation.
Analyze, record and chart documentation required for maintenance records and projects. Establishes benchmarks and shares improvement opportunities with department Shift Leader.
Establish and follow-up full project implementation including timing, concept, feasibility, design, specifications, construction and commissioning.
Prepare drawings, material specifications to requisition as required by vendors or other departments.
Assist in developing and maintaining preventative/predictive maintenance procedures.
Support or conduct training for and implementation of cross-functional repairs to equipment that includes electrical, mechanical, tooling etc. provided that it can be done safely.
Takes part in the continuous improvement process to improve productivity and quality (provides suggestions at team meetings, understands losses and gives ideas/solutions, participates in trials/experiments, volunteers on committee or focus group activities, etc.) and focuses on solutions.
Attends departmental and plant-wide communication meetings as scheduled.
Attends training as scheduled.
Complies with, supports and models CBAM's operational procedures/policies, Employee Handbook, and Magna's Employee's Charter, Corporate Constitution, and Operational Principles.

This is a starting level machine maintenance role that works alongside other maintenance technicians at various levels including journeymen. Performs routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on mechanical equipment, utility systems, and facility building repairs.
Performance Expectations
Act as a plant resource for line improvements, line automation, realignment of product flow equipment and machinery in conjunction with Engineering and Maintenance.
Work with program managers and project engineers at the APQP stage of a program start-up.
Plan assigned work in an efficient method to minimize machine downtime while ensuring employee safety is maintained.
Troubleshoot process automation problems.
Perform regular housekeeping duties.
Work within Quality standards, procedures, and requirements.
Work with engineering following PPAP approval in resolving non-value-added processes.
Assign work tasks where applicable to co-worker(s).
Ensure work is performed in a manner that minimizes downtime.
Have knowledge of Electrical Safety Code.
Perform root cause analysis failure.
Perform periodically PLC and program backup.
Maintain updated and controlled PLC program data base.
Maintain equipment documentation updates.
Work with Engineers for all phases of design, maintenance, and inspection to meet the time requirements.
Participate in meetings with supervisors, co-workers, and employees to plan upcoming activities and to update projects.
Credentials
Completion of a minimum 3-year program in Electronics Technician/Technologist Certificate, Electrician Qualification or equivalent or equivalent working experience.
Minimum five years' experience in CNC and robotic repair/ programming.
Must be willing to work towards obtaining certification of qualification for electrician
Desired Characteristics
Understanding of electrical / electronic schematic diagrams, blueprints, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
Knowledge of advanced PLC programming including Allen-Bradley, ControlLogix/RSLogix, Siemens S7, Fanuc. Knowledge of
robot systems (ABB, Motoman, Fanuc, Kuka).
Basic knowledge of computer networking, Ethernet connections, TCP/IP protocol. Experience with the use of statistical analysis software and computer-assisted design, manufacturing and machining.
Ability to refer to quality specification forms to verify that products comply with required standards. Ability to evaluate condition of new and damaged mechanical equipment and make recommendations for repair or replacement.
Ability to work in teams that include engineers, machinists, and architects to provide technical support and services to engineers.

Job Purpose
Support all tool testing, process improvements activities, prototype runs, new program implementation and identify continuous improvements opportunities. Complete engineering PM's as assigned. Maintain CNC programs and manage program change control per documented process. Perform layered process audits as scheduled. Provides daily production support.

* Daily technical support to production/operations.
* Set-up and conduct tests on cutting tools under operational conditions for improving performance or to obtain data for development, standardization and capability.

* Assist with job training for manufacturing technicians and line supervisors regarding the proper operation of new or rebuilt equipment during initial start-up and launch.
* Conduct routine process audits and layered process audits (LPA) to ensure processes are being maintained within documented parameters. Record on appropriate check lists or other documents.
* Maintain accurate records of CNC programs per Dana procedures.
* Work in a safe manner and report unsafe work conditions, equipment or practices to department supervisors or engineers for resolution.
* Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
Education Required/Preferred:
* Knowledge of cutting tool and CNC technology through two years of technical study or equivalent work experience.
* Experience with Fanuc software preferred.
* Knowledge of mathematics and blue print reading.
* Demonstrated skill with machine tools.
* Ability to understand new manufacturing processes quickly.
* Knowledge of PFMEA, DCP, SPC, Cutting Tool Application, Metrology, Problem Solving, applicable quality and customer specific standards i.e. TS/QS (willing to train in areas needed).
