For example, the starting salary for a lateral hire with 15 years of full-time experience with an agency with more than 100 sworn personnel may/will be comparable to a 15-year ECSO Deputy. A lateral hire will not be compensated at a wage greater than an existing ECSO Deputy Sheriff with an equal number of years of law enforcement experience. CADET I/II: Under general supervision, the purpose of the Cadet position is to prepare a non-certified applicant (Cadet) for a career in law enforcement. While in the Cadet I/Cadet II status, the applicant participates and engages in formal and in-house training. The work activities are specifically designed and chosen to train and indoctrinate the individual in the field of law enforcement. The selected applicant agrees to perform work as assigned by the Administration OIC or their designee. The overall premise of the Cadet I or Cadet II position is to advance to be selected to attend the Law Enforcement Academy, when eligible (at the ECSO's discretion, minimum age of 21). Applicants at this stage would advance to the level of Recruit at a starting salary of $24.26/hour ($50,460 annual). If selected to attend the Law Enforcement Academy, applicant will be employed full-time while attending the law enforcement academy. The Escambia County Sheriff's Office will provide the needed training, equipment, and the state exam fee with the condition that the applicant sign a 2-year contract to work as a full-time Deputy Sheriff for the Escambia County Sheriff's Office, beginning once the applicant passes the State Officer Certification Exam. DEPUTY SHERIFF: This class is assigned to perform crime prevention and investigation activities. THIS POSITION REQUIRES THE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A FLORIDA BASIC LAW ENFORCEMENT ACADEMY (OR EQUIVALENCY OF TRAINING PROGRAM) AND PASSING OF THE FLORIDA STATE OFFICER CERTFICATION EXAM.     Job Title: Security Officer Company: Sugpiat Defense Reports To: Site Lead Location: Gulf Breeze Florida FLSA Status: Full Time/ Part Time / Shift Work Salary: DOE Clearance: Background Check SUMMARY Sugpiat Defense a Division of Akhiok-Kaguyak, INC has a requirement for qualified and skilled security personnel to work within the EPA Atlantic Coastal Environmental Sciences Division (ACESD). The security officer will provide site protection, walking patrol and electronic surveillance security services at the U.S. Government owned facility located In Gulf Breeze Florida. The Security Officer shall be responsible for providing a deterrent against unauthorized or illegal activities directed toward U.S. Govt employees, visitors, information programs, Government facilities or property, etc. RESPONSIBILITES: Detect suspicious activity or infrastructure equipment malfunctions Report incidents to proper authorizes in accordance with standard operating procedures Aid in the early reporting of emergencies, and provide directions and informational assistance to employees, visitors, and guests Providing necessary visual presence, surveillance, and control of access on the property Periodically be tasked to “monitor” laboratory experiment Document and report all activities, such as individuals who threaten the security and peacefulness of the premises Providing a deterrent against unauthorized or illegal activities directed toward EPA employees, visitors, information, programs, Government facilities or property, etc. Prolonged standing/walking, approximately 5-6 hours in a 12-hour shift, climbing multiple levels of staircases and uneven ground provide physical challenges every shift. Be competent at the preservation of evidence either physical or electronic media Notify COR or notify local authorities for law enforcement/emergency medical/fire response Provide CPR or use an AED as first aid. Screen visitors with X-Ray and magnetometer screening devices. QUALIFICATIONS: Be a United States citizen (either by birth or naturalization); or Be a lawful permanent resident of the United States. State of Florida private Security Certification Candidates will need to pass a U.S. Government background check Candidates must be flexible regarding schedule and work environments Be detail oriented, have a professional attitude Be fluent in English and be able to write and submit reports Be fluent in the use of cell phones, texting, MS Word/Excel, and standard emailing systems Physical exertion and stamina are required during foot patrols. Must be able to patrol a 16 Acre Property and Buildings, must be able to climb ladders, walk up and down steps, work in outdoor conditions. CPR Certification AED Certification EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE M eet one of the following requirements: Two (2) years of service in the United States Armed Services (including Reserves or National Guard) Any combination of two (2) years of experience in physical security (as a security officer, armed or unarmed) and service with the United States Armed Services (including Reserves or National Guard) Associate Degree or higher in a security-related or law enforcement-related field; Successful completion of a police officer's basic training academy; Three (3) years of experience in physical security as a security officer, armed or unarmed; or Eligibility based on any long-standing “grandfather” clause that maybe in effect. While performing the outdoor field duties of this job, the employee will also be exposed to outside weather conditions and other conditions such as loud noises, fumes, odors, dust, etc. This position may require travel.
