Duties and Responsibilities The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary. * Fulfill all duties related to his/her assignment as directed by the Texas Juvenile Justice Department and the United States Department of Justice. This includes, but is not limited to, all policies in accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA), Texas Family Code, Bell County Employee Handbook, and Bell County Juvenile Services policies and procedures.
* Must have the ability to work with a diverse population.
* Conduct searches of persons and facilities as required to control contraband.
* Always maintain his/her appearance and appropriate professional behavior.
* Provides shift coverage as scheduled AND on an On-Call basis.
* Address behavioral issues/concerns of residents to ensure compliance and understanding while fostering a proactive and positive environment.
* Assist staff during any situation that requires the use of Handle with Care (the Department/Program recognized physical restraint/behavior modification system) and the department approved behavior management program.
* Work a schedule that will involve working weekends, evenings, or nights (shift work).
* Supervise residents in program activities such as meals, showers, school, indoor and outdoor recreation, and parental visitation.
* Perform housekeeping tasks as needed to maintain facility cleanliness.
* Maintain daily activity logs and reports as required.
* Write discipline and or incident reports as required.
* Notify immediate supervisor at least two hours prior to shift if calling in sick.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
be at least 21 years of age; have no disqualifying criminal history; have no criminal history as described in §344.410(a) unless TJJD has reviewed it and determined the person is not ineligible for certification due to the criminal history; have acquired a high school diploma or its equivalent as specified in TAC§344.204; never have had any type of certification revoked by TJJD; complete the training required by TAC§344; and pass the certification exam.

* Recruitment Incentive: Applicants may be eligible for a $40,000 recruitment incentive in accordance with regulatory requirements. The first installment of $15,000 will be paid following successful completion of Secret Service Criminal Investigator training. A second installment of $10,000 will be paid following one year of service post training and an acceptable performance rating. The final installment of $15,000 will be paid after a third year of service post training and an acceptable performance rating. Provision of these payments require the execution of a three-year Continued Service Agreement (CSA) with the agency. Implements and monitors youth activities, programs, and behaviors on an individual and group basis, to ensure healthy youth engagement and to provides appropriate role modeling for all youth.
Observes and keeps staff informed daily of significant behavioral and treatment-related conditions and events known about a youth and/or the group.
Provides services to potentially aggressive/combative youth in a correctional setting with a wide variety of temperaments (volatile, mentally ill, suicidal) and specialized needs (chemically dependent, sexual offenders, emotionally disturbed, etc.

Physically restrains and secures, if necessary, sometimes aggressive youth and participates in follow up debriefing conversations to assess the relationship and determine alternative strategies to avoid future physical restraints.
Maintains security in buildings, grounds, and other posts; and intervenes during emergencies or altercations to prevent escapes and protect the safety of all youth.
Conducts searches for contraband and health/safety hazards; and performs room, property, pat, and strip searches of youth as required.
Supervises assigned youth during all of their daily activities, including on the dorm, at school, during meals, and other activities; manages all movements between activities; conducts periodic headcounts; ensures youth engage in required activities; and transfers and transports youth, on foot, in vehicles, and other forms of transportation.

Maintains privacy and follows all policies, regulation, and laws in regards to youth records.
Completes and maintains required records, files, and forms in a timely and accurate way.

The Air Detention Officer serves as a part of a security crew providing charter aircraft services and is responsible for ensuring the general security and safety of all noncitizen and crew when on-board the aircraft. BRIEF POSITION SUMMARYThis position performs complex (journey-level) procurement work for the Texas State Guard (TXSG) and may be a variation of grades appropriate to the amount and level of responsibility the position involves.
Work consists of establishing program goals and objectives; planning, coordinating, and preparing specifications for purchasing commodities and services; preparing procurement documents; and monitoring the maintenance of detailed records of items purchased, received, prepared, and issued.

Actively support and implement modernization efforts, professionalization initiatives, command directives, and organizational changes relevant to the department's functional areas.
Reports to the TXSG Deputy Chief of Staff and works under general supervision with moderate latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
WORK HOURS: Monday-Friday, 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESManages day-to-day activities of the assigned functional area within the Texas State Guard.
Establishes goals and objectives; develops and approves schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals; and manages evaluation activities.
Contributes to the continuous improvement of force structure, training standards, mission readiness, and administrative procedures, as guided by the commander's intent and driven by local leadership.
Reviews and maintains accounting records of purchases.
Responsible for preparing, reviewing, entering and tracking all TXSG purchase requisitions and purchase orders.
Coordinates with the Logistics Manager to ensure inventories are purchased promptly.
Monitors and tracks vendor performance.
Follows TMD purchasing program guidelines, procedures, policies, rules, and regulations.
Coordinates and provides training to staff regarding purchasing and procurement practices and policies.
Coordinates with TMD to initiate emergency purchases.
Prepares bid specifications.
Reviews or prepares the delivery of statutorily required reports.
Coordinates with the TXSG T4 Deputy Logistics Manager and ensures the continuity of all TXSG logistics programs and operations.
May supervise others.
Performs related work as assigned.
Qualifications CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTApplicants must have and maintain active membership in the Texas State Guard as a condition of employment.
They must also be qualified for entry into or continued service in the Texas State Guard in accordance with all applicable regulatory policies.
Candidates must meet the age, education, aptitude, physical, and character requirements for the TXSG.
The State Military Specialist must wear the appropriate military duty uniform while in state service.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION:Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent is required.
PREFERRED EDUCATION:Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in logistics management, business management, or supply chain management.
