Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Assesses children referred for mental health evaluations and makes appropriate treatment recommendations. Performs case management functions such as maintaining case records and coordinating additional services as necessary. Acts as a group leader/facilitator during group counseling sessions. Provides individual counseling to program clients. Provides family counseling to program clients. Staffs' cases with psychiatric practitioner as required. The Addiction Counselor coordinates all programs designed to reduce and eliminate substance use and abuse and in compliance with the Department of Labor/Job Corps guidelines. Conducts in-service training sessions with both staff and students in all areas related to substance use and abuse. Submits recommendations to the Center Director for medical terminations related to substance misuse and abuse in conjunction with the Mental Health Consultant, center physician, Health and Wellness Manager (RN), etc. Monitors behavior and progress of students involved in the Alcohol and Other Drugs of Abuse Prevention/Intervention Program.
