The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a team environment and collaborating with Law Operations colleagues to support legal matters across the Company's midstream operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Provide Effective Legal Services. Generate qualitatively superior legal analysis, work product, and advice. Provide legal advice and services that are relevant, practical, and meaningful to business units. Become an integral partner to the Company's business units, understanding business strategies and commercial objectives.
* Contract Drafting and Support. Support the Company's business units in defining and executing practical contracting strategies aimed at supporting commercial objectives. Work creatively and proactively with legal colleagues and the Company's business units to identify opportunities for commercially advantageous risk allocation in contracts. Support resolutions of commercial contract disputes in-house without the use of outside counsel.
* Legal Counseling and Training. Identify and implement proactive approaches to counseling business units on a variety of legal topics, including contract language interpretation, negotiation strategies, risk allocation, and statutory and regulatory obligations and compliance. Be an active and creative participant in the Law Organization's formal legal training program.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
* JD degree from an accredited US law school
* Current license to practice law in applicable states in which company has operations
* Minimum of 3-years of relevant experience
* Experience in the midstream or downstream energy industry preferred.
* Experience as in-house or transactional counsel is preferred.
* Legal experience in one or more of the following is preferred but not required:
* FERC
* Pipeline transportation services agreements; terminal services agreements; storage agreements; dedication agreements; connection agreements; pipeline tariffs; easement and surface use agreements; bills of sale; lease agreement
* Agreements for goods or services (Supply Chain)
SKILLS:

We are currently seeking MSW Interns to provide structured time-limited face-to-face clinical interventions for patients of the agency who are seeking behavioral health treatment or crisis intervention. This position formulates and implements individual and group interventions in the areas of reintegration planning and substance abuse treatment. The specialist will conduct evaluations using evidenced-based evaluation rating tools, will implement case and treatment plans and will delivery evidence-based substance abuse programming. The specialist will develop and implement therapeutic and behavioral interventions to improve a persons' in our care (PIOC) success in completing program requirements.
Salary Information
This position is in pay schedule and range 12-64 with a starting pay of $29.94/hour - $34.34/hour.
This position may receive a $1.00 to $2.00 per hour add-on pay based on the type of SAC credential possessed at the time of hire.
Candidates with no prior permanent employment with the State of Wisconsin in the past 5 years may be eligible to accept a sign-on bonus of $3,000. The sign-on bonus will be paid in two installments: $1500 on the first paycheck and $1500 with the paycheck for the pay period in which the employee attains permanent status (usually 1 year). (UW System employment isn't disqualifying.)
To receive the bonus, a candidate must sign an agreement indicating they will remain in that position for a year. If the candidate leaves their position prior to completing the one year, they may be required to reimburse the initial payment.

The Counsel position is within Marathon's Law Business Operations group, the in-house legal team responsible for supporting the day-to-day business needs for the Company. This position will be focused on providing legal advice and guidance for Marathon's midstream assets, with a focus on drafting and negotiating commercial agreements related to gas gathering and processing, the transportation of crude and refined products by pipeline, truck, rail, and barge, and material and service procurement. Being a member of the Law Operations group provides opportunities to practice in multiple substantive legal areas with a primary focus on contract negotiation and drafting, risk mitigation, counseling, regulatory compliance, and incident response. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a team environment and collaborating with Law Operations colleagues to support legal matters across the Company's midstream operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Provide Effective Legal Services. Generate qualitatively superior legal analysis, work product, and advice. Provide legal advice and services that are relevant, practical, and meaningful to business units. Become an integral partner to the Company's business units, understanding business strategies and commercial objectives.
+ Contract Drafting and Support. Support the Company's business units in defining and executing practical contracting strategies aimed at supporting commercial objectives. Work creatively and proactively with legal colleagues and the Company's business units to identify opportunities for commercially advantageous risk allocation in contracts. Support resolutions of commercial contract disputes in-house without the use of outside counsel.
+ Legal Counseling and Training. Identify and implement proactive approaches to counseling business units on a variety of legal topics, including contract language interpretation, negotiation strategies, risk allocation, and statutory and regulatory obligations and compliance. Be an active and creative participant in the Law Organization's formal legal training program.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
+ JD degree from an accredited US law school
+ Current license to practice law in applicable states in which company has operations
+ Minimum of 3-years of relevant experience
+ Experience in the midstream or downstream energy industry preferred.
+ Experience as in-house or transactional counsel is preferred.
+ Legal experience in one or more of the following is preferred but not required:
+ FERC
+ Pipeline transportation services agreements; terminal services agreements; storage agreements; dedication agreements; connection agreements; pipeline tariffs; easement and surface use agreements; bills of sale; lease agreement
+ Agreements for goods or services (Supply Chain)
