Requirements
I. JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or GED.
Ability to complete all required certifications and training programs. Certification or ability to be certified in CPR/First Responder.
Thorough knowledge of accepted theories, practices, and interventions for counseling youth and their families, with ability to apply theories and interventions to both family and individual circumstances. Knowledge of youth behavior, issues and trends.
Knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling and punctuation, and ability to prepare and submit daily reports detailing behavior and interventions of individual residents.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with co-workers, other County personnel, school officials, Probation Officers, Case Workers, related social agencies, parents, and the public, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities.
Ability to deal swiftly, rationally and decisively with potentially violent individuals and de-escalate volatile situations by means of conversation/negotiation.
Ability to provide public access to or maintain confidentiality of Department information and records according to state requirements.

II. DIFFICULTY OF WORK:

IV. PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Incumbent duties involve lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds, driving, handling/grasping objects, and hearing sounds and communication. Responsibilities
Manage a set of assigned patients and conduct individual therapy sessions
Select appropriate treatment modalities and apply them effectively
Assist patients with discharge planning including FMLA, Short-Term Disability, and sober housing
Attend Treatment Team meetings as needed
Collaborate effectively across treatment teams and departments
Maintain positive relationships with internal staff and external agencies
Perform additional duties as assigned
Report directly to the Clinical Director
Qualifications
Active state license required
Master's degree or higher in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field required
2+ years of experience in a clinical role preferred
Experience in chemical dependency or addiction treatment preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort with electronic health records
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Passion or interest in substance abuse recovery strongly preferred
Commitment to a drug-free lifestyle and responsible alcohol use is essential
Authorization to work in the US is required

Guidance Counselor Job Responsibilities Performance Responsibilities: * Assist in the planning and presentation of school curriculum programs, including middle school presentations regarding scheduling and graduation requirements, and high school grade-level presentations.
* Assist in the administration of all standardized tests (ASVAB, PSAT, school day SAT) and interpret results to parents and students.
* Assist in the planning and coordination of career programs, college visitations, and student and parent orientation/information sessions.
* Inform the Guidance Department Chair as to the needs of students and recommend changes in curriculum, programs, or activities as needed.
* Provide guidance to each student that leads to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and maturity.
