Essential Technical Responsibilities
Perform design duties listed as follows:
Lead detailed CAD design of high voltage substation and switchyards. Design packages encompass creating the general arrangement from the operating single line diagram, site layouts, sections/elevations, bus and overhead conductor calculation/selections, ground grid, cable tray/trench/duct bank, yard lighting, lightning protection, prefabricated control building layouts, AC/DC station service supply, voltage drop, conduit/cable tray fill, bill of materials, etc.
Support the development of protection and control design packages encompassing P&C single line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, etc.
Coordinate with renewable energy collector system, civil, structural and transmission line design and studies teams.
Interface with internal and external team members including electrical engineers, electrical designers, drafters, project managers, and take ownership of the project to meet and exceed client expectations.
Support development of standards, optimizations, and processes and provide execution plans with strong follow-through
Qualifications
Minimum of diploma or bachelors degree in drafting / electrical design
5+ years related experience in AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil3D, and/or AutoCAD Map3D in power delivery (transmission and distribution systems for utilities or industrial), renewable energy, or power generation
Strong CAD skills with experience utilizing layers, blocks, XREFs, coordinate systems, annotations, and dimensioning while abiding by company and industry drafting standards
Must be authorized for full-time work in Canada
Ability to work on multi-discipline projects
Excellent time management and organization skills
Excellent computer skills; proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook with advanced MS Office skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and make recommendations

The Electrical Lighting Designer II is a mid-level designer responsible for creating marked drawings, model development, and other documents showing equipment and device layouts and branch circuiting for power, lighting, and auxiliary drawings. In addition, this position provides calculations and documentation for the design of lighting and power systems, as well as details as required to define and clarify the intent of the design on drawings. This position requires moderate dotted-line supervision by a Designer III, an Engineer, the Engineer of Record, the Engineering Team Lead, or the Director of Engineering.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Utilize visual lighting software and energy codes (such as International Energy Conservation Code and Title 24") to create lighting designs.
Mark up branch circuit lighting and power plans and fill in panel board schedules with moderate
Perform Energy Code calculations, documentation, and local jurisdiction energy requirements with little supervision.
Apply and perform Rosendin standards for wire sizing, transformer feeders, and protection from published schedules.
Calculate power loads, size feeders, and determine the estimated demand load summary for a distribution system under the direction of a Sr. Designer or an Engineer.
Direct and coordinate signal and low voltage subcontractors with other trades, such as architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, vertical transportation, kitchen equipment, and OFCI systems.
Create details as required to define installation for construction.
Provide the design lead function for small jobs.
Ability to review manufacturer submittals for electrical characteristics.
Layout Electrical Room, including clearances, with minimal oversight.

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Fire Alarm System Designer to join our team. This role is focused on the end-to-end design of code-compliant and technically sound fire alarm systems for commercial and industrial projects. The ideal candidate will hold a current Texas Alarm Planning Superintendent (APS) license and have a minimum NICET Level III certification in Fire Alarm Systems.
This position plays a key role in project delivery-from system layout to permitting-and includes managing external design subcontractors. While the core focus is on fire alarm design, experience with security systems (CCTV, access control, intrusion) is a plus.
Responsibilities
Design complete fire alarm systems, including layout drawings, risers, wiring schematics, and equipment schedules
Produce accurate and code-compliant CAD drawings and documentation for submittals and permitting
Ensure compliance with NFPA 72, NEC, IBC, local codes, and project specifications
Prepare and coordinate full submittal packages for review by clients and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs)
Review and interpret architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings to develop complete fire alarm designs
Collaborate with internal teams (sales, project management, technicians) to ensure design intent and installation alignment
Act as a liaison with AHJs during permitting and inspection processes
Manage and coordinate work of external design subcontractors to ensure quality, timeliness, and code compliance
Stay up to date on industry best practices, technologies, and evolving code requirements
Bonus Responsibilities (Preferred, Not Required):
Assist with estimating fire alarm systems and budget development
Provide conceptual designs for integrated security systems (access control, CCTV, intrusion detection)
Coordinate security system scope with internal teams or subcontractors
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Valid Texas Alarm Planning Superintendent (APS) license

Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit and Bluebeam experience a plus)

Essential Functions
Daily On-Site Attendance.
Prepare 2D and 3D CAD drawings using SolidWorks.
Generate detailed views of transformer components such as
-- Transformer tanks and enclosures
-- Cooling systems (radiators, fans)
-- Core and coil assemblies (in coordination with electrical designers)
-- Bushings and terminals
-- Mounting and lifting structures
Ensure materials are correctly specified for manufacturing.
Upload drawings and files to NetSuite.
Ensure all drawings meet relevant industry standards such as IEEE C57, ANSI, and NEMA.
Maintain consistent drawing practices and tolerancing standards.
Provide technical support to manufacturing, assembly, and quality teams.
Generate fabrication and assembly drawings to guide the shop floor.
Assist in inspections of tanks, cabinets, and steel products as needed.
Support nonconformance investigations for tanks, cabinets, and steel products.
Modify existing drawings and documentation to reflect design changes or improvements.
Maintain up-to-date and timely drawing revisions.
Work closely with Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Lean, and Quality.

YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY:
The Electrical Substation Designer III is responsible for the creation of marked drawings and other documents to show equipment and device layouts and branch circuiting for power, lighting, and auxiliary drawings. Work closely with project manager and take design lead on projects.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Provide calculations and documentation for design of lighting and power systems.
Provide details as required to define and clarify the intent of the design on drawings.
Coordinates with clients, architects, and other discipline engineers to complete drawings.
Mark-up branch circuit lighting and power plans and fill in panel board schedules with moderate supervision.
Perform Title 24 lighting rules and requirements, or any local jurisdiction's energy requirements with no supervision.
Apply Rosendin standards for wire sizing, transformer feeders, and protection for published schedules. Has a working knowledge of feeder sizing but may not be able to complete engineering calculations without assistance from the Engineer.
Calculate lighting levels and layout fixtures for all traditional spaces. Would require assistance of an Engineer for spaces of high finish, specific application or aesthetic sensitivity.
Select appropriate lighting fixtures and controls from either the Rosendin standards or product lines as appropriate for the project.
Calculate power loads, size feeders, and determine estimated demand load summary for a distribution system.
Perform coordination with all other trades, such as architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, vertical transportation, kitchen equipment and OPCI systems.
Create details as required to define installation for construction.
Run short circuit studies.
Have familiarity with the National Electrical Code and know how to use it as a reference.
Attend project design team meetings. Interface with various team members, particularly the client, architect, and mechanical contractor/engineer.
Work closely with the Rosendin Operations Project Manager to coordinate the design criteria with budgetary issues.
Direct and coordinate signal and low voltage sub-contractors and designs with supervision and assistance.
Back-check of own work as well as the work of other designers under their supervision for accuracy and completeness before passing on to others.
Comprehensive field work and surveying skills.
Limited coordination with other trades and disciplines on the project.
Position requires a team-oriented person with good interpersonal skills and the ability to coordinate with others.

Main Responsibilities:
Lead the transformation of conceptual designs into detailed, high-quality working documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS tools.
Oversee the development of preliminary layouts and detailed final designs, ensuring integration with engineering notes, sketches, survey base maps, shapefiles, topographic and planimetric mapping, and using Vehicle Tracking.
Spearhead the preparation and execution of civil construction plans for wind and solar energy projects. This includes site layouts, roadway alignments, profiles, cross sections, drainage designs, complex grading schemes, erosion control, and detailed construction specifications.
Conduct thorough reviews of drawings and project deliverables to ensure completeness, accuracy, and alignment with project requirements and industry best practices.
Serve as a senior point of contact and coordinate closely with project management and engineering teams to align efforts, manage expectations, and drive project milestones to completion.
Implement and maintain document control systems. Ensure that all revisions and project-related information are systematically organized by team members and easily accessible.
Manage and prioritize multiple projects, and the ability to pivot quickly in response to changing project needs and timelines.
Create a collaborative environment within multi-disciplinary teams. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff.
Utilize advanced Civil 3D capabilities, including surface and corridor creation, pipe networks, grading tools, and Sheet Set Manager procedures.
Develop, implement, and adhere to advanced CAD standards and structured programs to streamline design processes and reduce design time.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Excel in verbal and written communication, presenting technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Education/Experience Requirements:
5-7 years of high-level experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS tools with a demonstrated track record of leading and delivering complex civil design projects.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Drafting/Design, or in a related field. Bachelor's degree in civil engineering is preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
Strong knowledge of Civil 3D project organization, advanced drawing structures, and adherence to CAD industry standards, and GIS tools.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience in Renewable Energy and/or Oil and Gas is a plus.
Possess a valid U.S. driver's license.
Attention to detail with an ability to manage multiple complex tasks concurrently.
