With general direction from the Shop Supervisor, a Mechanic provides a wide range of technical services on company buses, vans, and automobiles. This is a journeyman position that requires significant technical training and/or experience. Also works under the direction of the Operations Manager. Duties/Responsibilities: Performs thorough and accurate Preventative Maintenance (PM) inspections. Following schedules, completes all required PM maintenance operations including lubrication, fluid changes, brake adjustments, and tire rotation. With direction from the Supervisor, performs unscheduled maintenance as needed. Performs complex operations including engine, electrical, fuel, brake, and exhaust repairs and field tests. This requires interpreting and working from drawings, specifications and other technical materials. Must be able to utilize a ladder and other elevation equipment to access the roof of buses and elevated light fixtures for repairs and maintenance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Reading and interpreting detailed technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Fabricating sign components from various materials, including metals, acrylics, and composites, using advanced machinery and tools. Operating CNC Machines to cut, route, and shape materials with precision. Welding and soldering components as needed for structural integrity. Applying finishes and coatings to sign surfaces according to specifications. Conducting quality inspections to ensure all fabricated components meet standards. Collaborating with designers and engineers to troubleshoot design issues and refine fabrication processes. What You'll Do: Mechanical: Diagnose and fix mechanical issues, including replacing parts like bearings, pulleys, belts, chains, or sprockets. Repair or rebuild components like motors, gear reducers, or variable speed drives (excluding complex equipment needing specialized tools). Ensure the right parts are ordered and follow through on repairs. Pneumatics: Troubleshoot pneumatic systems like cylinders, valves, and adjusters. Rebuild pneumatic components and understand related hoses and fittings. Read and interpret pneumatic schematics. Hydraulics: Understand hydraulic systems and components. Rebuild or replace hydraulic parts and interpret hydraulic schematics. What We're Looking For: High school diploma or equivalent. Electrical training preferred but not required. Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems. Strong troubleshooting skills and a desire to learn. Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions.
