Observe and test the operation of machinery and equipment in order to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters and other testing devices. Operate newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs. Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs. Repair and maintain the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment. Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment. Study blueprints and manufacturers' manuals to determine correct installation and operation of machinery. Models company values and ethical behavior in all relationships with internal and external customers. Assures the proper operation of a wide variety of mechanical machines and devices including pumps, engines, motors, conveyors, compressors, and laboratory equipment by observing mechanical machines in operation and listening to them to locate the source of malfunctions, lubricating and cleaning mechanical machines, dismantling the machines in order to repair or replace inoperative part such as belts, fans, motors, and pumps, and adjusting the machines to prescribed operating standards or performance rates. Repairs existing structures according to work orders or verbal instructions by inspecting the work site to determine the materials, equipment, tool requirements, and methods to be used, developing a plan or lay out for the project or following a blueprint, sketch or schematic, assembling, fabricating or building and installing materials, equipment, or fixtures as required by the scope of work. Performs related duties and responsibilities as required. The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for the comprehensive maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of our diverse fleet, encompassing trucks, trailers, and both light and heavy-duty equipment. This role ensures the operational readiness and safety of all company vehicles and equipment, contributing directly to the efficiency and success of our operations. Key Responsibilities Maintenance and Repair: Diagnose and repair intricate mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems across a wide range of fleet vehicles and equipment, including trucks, trailers, skid steers, excavators, loaders, and various specialized landscaping machines. Perform routine and preventative maintenance, adhering to established schedules and industry best practices, including oil changes, filter replacements, brake repairs, and tire services. Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles and equipment to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Maintain and repair heavy-duty equipment, including hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and complex electrical systems. Perform welding and fabrication repairs as needed to maintain equipment integrity. Service and repair company trucks and trailers, ensuring roadworthiness and compliance with DOT regulations. Inspections and Compliance: Perform vehicle and equipment inspections in accordance with DOT, OSHA, and company safety standards. Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations and environmental standards. Inventory and Parts Management: Maintain an organized inventory of parts and supplies, ensuring timely availability for repairs. Source and order parts as needed, managing inventory levels and optimizing cost-effectiveness. Maintain accurate inventory records. Ensure proper storage and handling of parts and tools.
