Job Summary:
The Electrical Engineering Intern will be introduced to Revit to assist in the design of electrical systems, lighting layouts, power and fire alarm systems for commercial spaces. The intern will have the opportunity to work on School, University, Healthcare, Office or Infrastructure projects as well as visiting jobsites and learn about the construction industry.

How will I contribute?
As an Electrical Engineer Intern, you will work under the direction of an assigned mentor to develop and implement project deliverables. As an Electrical Engineer Intern, you will focus on the design and engineering of power, lighting, grounding/bonding, special systems; e.g., tel/ data, security, fire alarm, raceway, cable tray and other electrical control and building support systems into the built work environment. Project work may include all levels of design such as studies, conceptual and schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration.
Core Responsibilities
* Typical tasks and deliverables include power load, illumination, short circuit, voltage drop calculations, basis of design reports, code evaluations, single line diagrams, plans, schedules, installation details, specifications, and coordination with manufacturers and construction trade partners. Tasks will include utilizing computer aided drafting and engineering software.
* Developing project documents (e.g., calculations, reports, construction drawings and specifications, etc.) for clients in coordination with regulatory bodies and industry standards.
* Assisting with development of conceptual designs and coordinating with the design team under direction of the project team lead.
* Coordinating with multiple disciplines and other internal and external team members (e.g., vendors, clients, and contractors).

The Electrical Engineering Intern will work under the direction of an Electrical Engineering Supervisor to support all electrical design and documentation activities through the design and manufacturing process. This role will assist with creating drawings, bills of materials, and technical documentation for low-, medium-, and high-voltage equipment and systems. The intern will gain exposure to industry codes and standards, manufacturing operations, and testing of finished electrical products, while collaborating closely with engineering, production, and testing teams.
Essential Duties
Perform all duties in a safe manner and promote a “Safety First” mindset in all tasks.
Learn and apply ESSMetron's design standards, codes, and manufacturing practices.
Assist in the selection of electrical materials and components (e.g., breakers, relays, panels, wiring devices) under the guidance of senior engineers.
Help create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) in the MRP/ERP system for specific projects.
Assist in developing and revising AutoCAD one-line and three-line diagrams, panel layouts, and wiring schematics for assigned projects.

For college students interested in engineering design for the built environment, CMTA has a robust co-op program for students pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Architectural Engineering. We offer an opportunity for students to immerse themselves for one or more semesters in the consulting engineering world. Our co-ops build industry competitive skills in a hands-on environment, all while working on a team, and being trained by Professional Engineers in AutoCAD and Revit. The skills our co-ops learn allow them to create real construction drawings for real CMTA projects.
This position is a full time (40 hrs./week), onsite position with a competitive hourly pay rate and eligible for overtime pay. This position will start May 2026 and go through Summer 2026. This position is a full time (40 hrs./week), onsite position with a competitive hourly pay rate and eligible for overtime pay. This position will start **May 2026** **and go through Summer 2026. Dates are flexible with school calendar** . Our hope is that the co-op students that are hired will do multiple co-op rotations with CMTA with possible consideration for full time employment upon graduation.
**Job Description:**
This position provides a unique opportunity for hands-on training in electrical design. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work well with a team and independently. Our engineers will teach the student co-op how we design and implement electrical systems/infrastructure as well as energy efficient measures in our building projects. This is a great opportunity to work on some of the most challenging and complex MEP projects, and become an important part of our design team.
**Job Functions: (may include but are not limited to)**
+ Learn and implement the electrical system basics such as power, power distribution, lighting & controls, fire alarm systems for new constructions and renovation design projects while supporting our engineering team.

Helios is our next-generation quantum computer with 96 physical qubits and error rates
As we continue to build out the team, we will require a diverse set of skills and have identified three specific roles:
* One that requires deep physics knowledge of trapped-ion-based technology and would be responsible for qubit-based integration and validation tasks. This role would be best suited for the candidate with an atomic physics or mature quantum computing background.
* One that requires demonstrated skill and broad knowledge over laser and optical systems designed for light delivery, collection, and detection. This role would be responsible for integration and validation tasks associated with laser and optical subsystems.
