Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support & Layout
• Interpret structural, mechanical, civil, and architectural drawings.

• Confirm tolerances, placement accuracy, anchor bolt patterns, centerlines, and equipment alignment.
• Maintain current versions of drawings, shop details, lift plans, and installation manuals onsite.
Work Planning & Coordination
• Develop daily and weekly work plans with the Superintendent and Foreman.
• Identify material, tool, equipment, and access needs ahead of installation.
• Assist with crane/lift planning, rigging requirements, and sequencing.
• Track and update progress quantities and crew production rates.
Documentation & Controls
• Initiate, track, and close RFIs, submittals, and field clarifications.
• Maintain weld maps, bolt torque logs, pressure test records, and material traceability as applicable.
• Support inspection activities with GC, Owner, and third-party inspectors.
• Update redlines and as-built drawings for project turnover.
Safety & Quality
• Support completion of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and pre-task plans.
• Verify work is performed in accordance with drawings, codes, and installation standards.
• Participate in toolbox talks and safety audits.
Communication
• Serve as a day-to-day technical point of contact between Project Manager, Superintendent / Foreman, Fabricators / Vendors, Inspectors & Client Representatives
• Ensure field issues are communicated early and resolved quickly.

What you will do
You will be part of a multi-discipline product development team working in the design and development of new products. The Electrical Engineer will work closely with a group of experienced engineers in designing, developing, debugging and documenting new electrical hardware designs with a focus but not limited to analog and power electronics.

Build and test NSP instrument prototypes using bench-top instruments (oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.), verifying functionality of integrated modules and refining designs for product readiness.
Develop and execute validation plans to confirm overall instrument performance under real-world conditions.
Seek and apply modern solutions-such as modular design, standardized interfaces, and automation on test benches-to streamline design cycles, accelerate development, and reduce BOM complexity.
May be required to travel domestically or internationally (< 5%).

Education and Experience
The Electrical Design Engineer typically needs a combination of education, training, certifications and skills. This role requires the following:
Bachelor of Science (B.S) in Electrical Engineering
Minimum of 3 years of professional electrical design
Hands-on expertise with multi-layer PCB schematic capture and layout in Zuken or equivalent
Deep understanding of analog front-end design (low-noise amplifiers, ADC/DAC integration, sensor signal conditioning)
Demonstrated skill in digital interfaces and communication protocols (SPI, I²C, UART, CAN)
Experience specifying and validating components for reliability, environmental ruggedness, and regulatory compliance (CE/UL/CSA)
Expertise in EMC/EMI mitigation techniques (shielding, board-level filtering, ground-plane strategies) to ensure regulatory compliance and reliable operation in noisy or regulated environments.
Strong proficiency in writing and reviewing design documentation: schematics, BOMs, test plans, and compliance reports
History of collaborating with systems, mechanical, software, firmware, and test teams
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a diverse team
Preferred skills include:
Experience for analytical or scientific instrumentation productization
MS in Electrical Engineering
Minimum of 5 years of professional electrical design experience for analytical or scientific instrumentation productization
Proven track record in productizing lab-grade or functional prototypes-driving DFM/DFT reviews, robustness hardening, and transfer from R&D into NPI.
Track record of component cost-optimization, alternate-sourcing strategies, and collaborating with procurement to manage long-lead items.
Hands-on experience performing DFMEA and failure-mode analysis to identify, document, and mitigate potential design and process risks before production release.
Basic understanding of thermal management (heat sinking, airflow) and enclosure design trade-offs affecting EMI and environmental ruggedness.
Knowledge of MEMS sensors and devices
Experience with high vacuum technology and systems
