Milwaukee Tool's Product Support Engineering function focuses on providing support to high volume production lines to ensure on-time performance and high yield. As a Plumbing and Electrical Product Support Engineer I, you will be addressing production warranty issues including supply issues of ICs and other critical components. Working with product experts you will be qualifying alternate designs and updating performance parameters.
You'll also be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:
Under the supervision of senior engineers, engineer changes to existing embedded system designs including schematic capture, PCB Layout, and microcontroller firmware of current mass production solutions.
Conduct assigned engineering analysis and verification of alternate components and work with project team to update designs and support their integration into existing products.
Complete assigned firmware updates and releases to support design changes.
Use laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, and data acquisition systems.
Conduct experiments, perform simulations, and draw concise, logical conclusions by analyzing data.
Track projects to ensure adherence to schedule and communicate status updates to other team members
Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams globally.
Learn and display Milwaukee Tool's culture in day to day tasks and interactions with others.
Work with component suppliers and manufacturers for proper component selection on existing projects and providing input into future product needs.
Schedule, develop agendas for, facilitate, and document technical meetings and formal presentations.
Acquire knowledge and maintain an understanding of Milwaukee Tool's development and manufacturing processes to effectively and efficiently mass produce.

Specific Responsibilities:
Provide technical dynamometer support within Lab Facilities.

Perform advanced preventative maintenance, and calibrations as detailed in lab Maintenance and Quality Management documentation. Actively makes process or equipment improvement recommendations based on personal observations, comparison with processes utilized by other REHLKO divisions or outside companies, and cumulative knowledge. Recommend innovative or significant enhancements of test systems or procedures.
Trouble shoot electrical, electronic, and mechanical problems of a complex nature pertaining to lab equipment and facilities with minimal support.
Actively identify needs, seek proper approvals, and qualify new and revised maintenance methods and lab systems.
Follow established best practices and modifies practice as situationally appropriate. Make decisions for determining course of action for goal completion independently.
Observe and document results and procedures of work performed, including updating drawing and schematics, filing calibration reports, updating maintenance logs, and closing work requests.
Assist in managing all lab equipment requiring calibration or requiring repair. This includes scheduling, tracking and coordinating calibration activities both onsite and outside suppliers.
Generate/review LOTO procedures for existing and new equipment.
Analyze results of calibrations to determine deviations from expected standards and guidelines. Draw complex evaluation conclusions and provide detailed reports of results to supervisor.
Multi-task and prioritizes daily workload with minimal guidance. Anticipate needs and take appropriate action meet requested timelines. Planning horizon extends through large scope project completion.
Ensure adherence to applicable product compliance requirements including but not limited to the Clean Air Act, California Code of Regulations and California Health and Safety Code.
Reports to Senior Manager - Development & Reliability Labs.
Frequent contact with Maintenance Technicians and Analysts

Requirements:

Job Description
The controls designer is responsible for the creation of the control scheme to operate cooling and monitoring on medium and large power transformers. Creating schematics and wiring diagrams for customers and manufacturing purposes using control design and cad programs. Reviewing customer specifications and including standard and non-standard equipment and circuitry. Creating bills of materials for manufacturing. Troubleshooting electrical designs during manufacturing and testing. Interpret customer drawing and equipment changes and incorporate into the control scheme. Complete control component panel layouts for enclosures including relays, terminal blocks, circuit breakers, switches, wire duct and additional components. Communicate with mechanical designers, manufacturing personnel, customers and vendors.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Review customer requirement specification and interpret features into the control design.
Create schematic ladder drawings, panel layouts and point to point wiring diagrams for customer review and manufacturing process using electrical design program E3 by Zuken or alternate ECAD system.
Create bills of materials that include control enclosure, components and wire.
Prepare documentation that will assist in the mechanical design of the transformer
Incorporate revisions into design based on customer request after design review.
Designer will be responsible for troubleshooting the design during manufacturing working with manufacturing and test operators.
Research new components used in control design
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Ability to work under minimal supervision for design questions or technical problems.
Strong work ethic and a Team player.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Understanding of the function of relays, circuit breakers, PLCs, panel building and other control items.
Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite
Working knowledge of CAD design tools
Understanding of shop methods, industry standards and wiring procedures
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required Education / Experience
Associate's Degree in Control circuits, equivalent training in the Armed Services or approved equivalent in the industry with minimum 3-5 years design experience.
Preferred Experience/ Education
Working knowledge in designing with E3 wiring Program

The Senior ElectronicsEngineer will lead the design and implementation of testing of embedded systems for Milwaukee Tool's Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) products. You will work through the product development process in a team environment interacting with cross-functional stakeholders such as hardware, firmware, product development, and reliability engineers.
You'll also be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:
Executing a lead role for the design, prototype, test and troubleshooting embedded electronics hardware and firmware.
Create new circuit designs using schematic capture, PCB layout software, SPICE, and knowledge of industry best practices.
Identify performance and cost tradeoffs of competing electronic design solutions.
Ideate, evaluate, and develop new technologies for applications.
Provide candid and effective communications up, down and across the organization on progress, barrier removal and escalation of business risks/opportunities.
Demonstrate Milwaukee Tools Culture of high performance and agility by independently creating Work Breakdown Structure for your work and driving to critical milestones.
Drive urgency and accountability in project schedules to establishing and achieving key project metrics that meet the organization's needs.
