Are you experienced in Critical Infrastructure Commissioning and looking for a fast paced environment to work in? Key job responsibilities
As the Commissioning Engineer (CxE), you will provide testing and validation oversight of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure. This includes, but not limited to, review of design documents and equipment submittals, leading Factory Witness Testing (FWT), and managing third-party commissioning vendors in the performance of onsite pre-functional, functional, and integrated systems testing. You will own your projects' successes where you Deep Dived to resolve technical issues and had Bias for Action to address schedule impacts and coordination demands onsite. You will be sharing your lessons learned leading towards team growth and program improvements.
You will get the opportunity to provide multi-discipline input into the scheduling, test script development, designing, and planning of projects. During commissioning, you will be continuously auditing Cx vendors' activities to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements. Following the AWS project reporting format, you will be responsible for regular reporting of commissioning progress and metrics of assigned project to your Regional Commissioning Manager. You will have the opportunity to lead several projects simultaneously to achieve key milestones and deliver data center capacity, while managing project budget as approved by Finance.

A day in the life
On a typical project, the CxE works across AWS engineering, capacity delivery, operations, and contractor teams to coordinate site activities, prioritize tasks, and ensure each issue has clear path to resolution. The CxE manages the project commissioning vendor whose primary scope is to execute functional tests, identify issues, determine criticality, propose solutions, and document their findings. If project turnover is at risk, the CxE escalates to the appropriate stakeholders. Upon project completion, the CxE will communicate lessons learned to help peers on similar projects in flight and participate in initiatives that drive improvement to the commissioning program.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- 5+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or 5 years of relevant discipline work experience
- High technical competency in either mechanical or electrical or control systems utilized in critical infrastructures, with the capability to learn and be trained in the others.

Join Our Mission-Driven Team as Associate Director, Electrical Engineering!
Mason & Hanger is seeking a dynamic and experienced Associate Director, Electrical Engineering to join our team full-time. In this pivotal leadership role, you'll guide the vision, strategy, and execution of cutting-edge engineering projects that support critical national missions.
As Associate Director, you'll do more than oversee electrical design-you'll inspire and lead high-performing teams, cultivate client relationships, and shape the future of our engineering practice. While licensed Professional Engineer responsibilities are part of the role, your primary focus will be driving strategic direction, ensuring technical excellence, and mentoring talent across multiple office locations and remote teams.
Whether serving as senior leadership at one of our primary hubs or leading cross-functional teams in a key market, you'll have a direct impact on project success and organizational growth. This high-visibility position also includes involvement in team compensation planning and broader business operations.
As the Associate Director, Electrical Engineering, here's the work you'll do:
Engineering Leadership - Perform technical design and provide guidance on specifications, reports, and production drawings/models
Quality Assurance - Review designs and production drawings/models for assigned projects; may conduct Independent Technical Reviews (ITRs)
Project & Client Engagement - Partner with project managers and clients to ensure positive relationships, client satisfaction, and successful project delivery. Provide input on project strategy and client engagement efforts, including supporting proposal development and stakeholder communications
Mentorship & Development - Mentor, train, and coach engineers and designers to support technical excellence directly and through delegation to others, and Team Managers in management and leadership skills and processes
Resource Management - Assign and monitor workloads to ensure alignment with department and company priorities, staff capacity, and project needs
Talent Management - Review and approve timesheets, conduct performance evaluations, drive hiring and promotion decisions, and manage compensation planning to support team development and retention
This role is for you if you have these skills:
Proven knowledge of Electrical Engineering analysis and design including diversity of Electrical system
Proven skill in mentoring, training, and coaching others
Knowledge of Business Development process and completing RFP responses
Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with market leaders, project managers and engineering disciplines both internally and externally. Ability to create and present ideas to clients in form of drawings, renderings, and other exhibit
Proven ability to lead, ensure work is effectively delegated, and direct others in production of engineering projects to be an effective manager and hold people accountable for performance
And if you have these qualifications:
Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university or closely related discipline required
Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline preferred
12+ years' experience, including at least 2 years in supervisory or management role
Professional Engineer License Required
In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $154,160 - $231,240. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements)
