The Electrician performs a variety of electrical work in the manufacture, installation, operation and maintenance of electrical components, equipment, systems and machinery. Using and maintaining all test equipment, instruments, measuring devices and controls. Assist engineering with design of new equipment controls, PLC controls, building electrical systems and power distribution systems. Troubleshoot equipment program control problems through utilization of computer PLC interface or laptop computer. Operate and maintain plant systems, including air compressors, pumps and general facility support systems. Repair and maintain production machinery. Recommend and implement improvements and/or modifications of sequence of electrical operations. Perform other duties as assigned. Coordinates with the lead mechanic and coordinator to proactively schedule planned maintenance downtime. Provide feedback to the Plant engineer. Work complete monthly PM's correctly and completely. Participate in the maintenance training. Utilize E-Maint to verify PM compliance, assign PM, and close out work orders. Disassembles, inspects, reassembles, troubleshoots, repairs, and replaces malfunctioning parts or equipment (motors, switches, sensors, input/output board, controllers, gears, sprockets, chains, knives, etc.) using test equipment and meters such as VOM, megger, amp probe, and PC. Comply with OSHA Safety and Health standards and requirements. Abide by pant GMPs and Safety Regulations. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Vocational school a plus. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Industrial/ Manufacturing Experience. Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb balance; and regularly lift and/ or move up to 50 lbs. Knowledge of mechanical equipment and an understanding of how machinery works. Ability to multitask and work according to deadlines. Handle confidential information appropriately. The passenger railcar manufacturing process includes 2 bargained-for work disciplines: assembly and electrical. The instant job description relates specifically to electrical work during the production of passenger railcars. Summary Electrical Workers are separated into 4 classifications/categories, namely Entry Level, Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3. As specified below, said classifications are separated by, among other considerations, skill sets, experience, and proficiency. In general, Electrical Workers are responsible for wiring, assembling, connecting, and testing (specifically not including testing required during the commissioning process) electrical components on railcars under varying levels of supervision (depending on classification) while following drawings, schematics, procedures, and other written documentation, instructions, directives, and protocols. Electrical Workers will also participate in the testing/commissioning portion of the production process by providing support to Commissioning and Functional Engineers, and other high-level engineering and/or technical personnel, as directed, by specifically assisting with wiring for the continuity test, insulation test, and high voltage/potential (hipot) test.
