Experienced Electronic Systems Technician (EST) - Building Automation
Company: JSET Automated Technologies Type: Full-time | Non-exempt
Summary
Join a team that values proven methods, clean work, and safety. You will install, wire, test, and commission building automation and control systems for commercial and industrial sites. You will support junior techs and keep projects on schedule.

What You'll Do
Pull, route, label, and terminate low-voltage control wiring, including CAT5/6
Mount and wire PLC and BAS control panels and verify torque and labeling
Read and apply plans, one-lines, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams
Install and integrate field devices: actuators, valves, meters, and sensors
Commission PLC/BAS points, run checkouts and functional tests, and document results
Troubleshoot HVAC automation for chillers, VAVs, RTUs, AHUs, and pumps
Set device addresses and configure networks: BACnet/IP, Modbus RTU/TCP, and MSTP
Maintain redlines, as-builts, start-up forms, and commissioning logs
Follow NEC, EIA/TIA, BICSI, and site requirements
Coordinate with engineers, PMs, commissioning agents, and other trades
Coach apprentices on safe, correct work
What You Bring
3+ years in BAS, EPMS, or mechanical automation field work with PLC panel installs
Strong wiring and termination skills with neat cable management and labeling
Working knowledge of HVAC equipment and basic control sequences
Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, plan sets, and device schedules
Experience with BACnet or Modbus and basic IP addressing
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Ability to lift 60 lbs, climb ladders, and work on active jobsites
English proficiency required to read and communicate job-critical information (plans, safety procedures, wiring diagrams, work orders, and customer instructions), with or without reasonable accommodation
Nice to Have
Niagara N4, Allen-Bradley, or Siemens exposure
OSHA-10 or OSHA-30
Fiber basics and cable testing experience
Familiarity with EIA/TIA and BICSI practices
Experience with point-to-point and commissioning paperwork

What you will do
Our Early Career Technical Sales (BEST) Program is a 6-month technical sales development program for Recent College Graduates that focuses on creating market share by strategic selling Johnson Controls' Fire products and services to commercial customers. In this program you will have a chance to apply your technical knowledge and business acumen to work with customers to better understand their product and project needs by being the subject matter expert. As part of the program, you will participate in a 6-month training and development program combining classroom, field orientation, and on the job training. You will learn our fire equipment and service offerings, customer relationship techniques and leadership skills in preparation for supporting customers in your territory alongside the sales team. You will be prepared to consult with architects, engineers, and building owners on product selections; partner with and learn from internal experts and deliver on business goals. * Responds to alarms and takes corrective actions;
* Performs maintenance on supervisory control and data acquisition systems including network cabling, termination and testing of computer problems for all DCRSD operations;
* Performs and assists in mechanical repairs;
* Makes equipment adjustments and repairs to maintain operations within predetermined limits;
* Dismantles equipment to gain access to and repair defective parts; Reassembles properly after repairs are made;

Experienced Electronic Systems Technician (EST) - Building Automation

Join a team that values proven methods, clean work, and safety. You will install, wire, test, and commission building automation and control systems for commercial and industrial sites. You will support junior techs and keep projects on schedule.

What You'll Do
Pull, route, label, and terminate low-voltage control wiring, including CAT5/6
Mount and wire PLC and BAS control panels and verify torque and labeling
Read and apply plans, one-lines, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams
Install and integrate field devices: actuators, valves, meters, and sensors
Commission PLC/BAS points, run checkouts and functional tests, and document results
Troubleshoot HVAC automation for chillers, VAVs, RTUs, AHUs, and pumps
Set device addresses and configure networks: BACnet/IP, Modbus RTU/TCP, and MSTP
Maintain redlines, as-builts, start-up forms, and commissioning logs
Follow NEC, EIA/TIA, BICSI, and site requirements
Coordinate with engineers, PMs, commissioning agents, and other trades
Coach apprentices on safe, correct work
What You Bring
3+ years in BAS, EPMS, or mechanical automation field work with PLC panel installs
Strong wiring and termination skills with neat cable management and labeling
Working knowledge of HVAC equipment and basic control sequences
Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, plan sets, and device schedules
Experience with BACnet or Modbus and basic IP addressing
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Ability to lift 60 lbs, climb ladders, and work on active jobsites
English proficiency required to read and communicate job-critical information (plans, safety procedures, wiring diagrams, work orders, and customer instructions), with or without reasonable accommodation
Nice to Have
Niagara N4, Allen-Bradley, or Siemens exposure
OSHA-10 or OSHA-30
Fiber basics and cable testing experience
Familiarity with EIA/TIA and BICSI practices
Experience with point-to-point and commissioning paperwork
Schedule and Work Model
Full-time with overtime as project needs arise
On-site in Columbus on active industrial construction sites, with regional travel as needed

Assisting in the day to day operations of Inspections and services for all aspects of finding and fixing leaks
Assists in leak detection on piping systems, pools and spas, and use of electronic equipment and inert gases
Communicates with management, colleagues, and customers in a timely manner
Assist in the test of parts and equipment, as well as in the maintaining of proper parts and equipment stock levels
Use of power tools and equipment necessary
Provides professional courteous customer service at all times

Duties will include:
Book reading, familiarizing yourself with the industry On-the-job training using highly specialized electronic and sonar equipment to pinpoint water leaks on a variety of plumbing systems and settings. An Apprentice Candidate will be required to demonstrate an ability to use computer technologies to maintain work flow and test results. Good written communication skills are preferred. This company follows current COVID-19 guidelines and precautions. You will be required to sign a non disclosure agreement upon being hired.
Fully trained technician will be able to locate leaks on residential domestic/supply water plumbing systems and on pool plumbing systems and pool structures using specialized equipment. Technician will be trained as needed using diving equipment. Technicians will also be able to work well with others on larger commercial leak detection projects for both supply water and pools.
This is based on a 90 day probationary period- after the 90 days an evaluation of employment & pay will be discussed
