Our defense business is growing, and you can help support our military by working here. The Application Engineer is an inside and technical sales position for custom molded products. The AE will handle incoming leads for custom molded parts from start to finish of the initial sales cycle, as well as monitoring the progress of new projects. The AE will also be a first contact for technical and quality issues from the customer. When a customer needs to escalate an issue with an order, the AE will be responsible for addressing these concerns. The AE will occasionally travel to visit customers and make regular check in calls with key accounts. Job Functions: (specific examples, not intended as a complete list) Takes the initial call or email lead and determines disposition Prepares quotes for new molding projects Updates the CRM with all lead/rfq/customer info. Follows up on outstanding quotes. Facilitates the launch and monitors the progress of new custom molding projects and updates the customer. Fills the role of the customer's main technical resource for custom molded parts. Handles customer issues when they need to be escalated beyond Customer Service. Occasionally visit and regularly speak with a few key accounts. May do some prospecting research to find new molding customers. Knowledge and Qualifications: Relevant technical experience in the plastics industry or technical degree (preferably in relevant engineering field). Must be confident speaking with customers about technical issues. Must have ability to read mechanical drawings and use measuring tools. The individual should be a self-starter with the ability to manage their time, be organized with attention to detail. The ideal candidate will also have experience in sales and/or design of plastic molded parts. 3D CAD experience a plus.
