Role Description Form Energy is hiring a Staff Manufacturing Engineer to join our world-class engineering team. Our team is responsible for developing and scaling the automation systems that enable efficient, reliable, and high-quality manufacturing of Form Energy's Iron-Air multi-day battery. As a Staff Automation Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, deploying, and scaling automation solutions across first-of-kind manufacturing equipment. You will partner closely with equipment, process, and operations teams to identify opportunities for automation, integrate new technologies, and ensure that our production systems are safe, scalable, and efficient. Your expertise will help transform novel processes into robust, automated manufacturing lines capable of supporting Form's next-generation energy storage technology. This role will be located at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV, which is just a short drive outside of Pittsburgh, PA. Relocation assistance is available. What you'll do: Partner with process and manufacturing engineers to design, implement, and scale automation solutions for unique manufacturing processes. Define and drive requirements for automation in new equipment builds, ensuring seamless integration with manufacturing systems. Lead commissioning and qualification of automated systems in a fast-paced production environment. Develop automation strategies for material handling, in-line inspection, data collection, and error-proofing. Mentor and support engineers and technicians in troubleshooting and continuous improvement of automated equipment.. Mentor, guide, and support technicians and junior process engineers on new manufacturing equipment and processes. Be a champion for safety while scaling initial process designs to full production volume. What you'll bring: 7+ years of experience in manufacturing or automation engineering, ideally in pilot line, NPI, or scale-up environments. Demonstrated ability to design and implement automation solutions that improve safety, quality, and throughput. Hands-on experience with manufacturing automation systems that include complex components such as robotics, vision systems, sensors, and automated material handling. Familiarity with PLCs and HMIs for equipment integration (Rockwell, Siemens, or similar); ability to troubleshoot and collaborate with controls engineers. Proficiency with 3D CAD (Solidworks, CATIA, etc) and 2D CAD (AutoCAD). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience using data-driven methods to optimize automated systems. Excellent communication and organizational skills, with a track record of cross-functional collaboration.
