The Applications Engineer serves as the primary liaison between our organization and customers, focusing on understanding and fulfilling customer requests. The role involves creating quotes, offering solutions to meet customer needs, and conducting design reviews.
This position supports the furniture industry, working mainly with foam, fiberglass, and polyester components that integrate into larger customer products. Responsibilities range from customer requests to product launch, including managing and occasionally building prototypes.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with customer engineers and procurement teams to review requests and assist in creating quotes using Excel.
* Provide technical updates to customers regarding engineering changes, shipping dates, and project progress.
* Read and assess drawings, providing feedback on tolerances, manufacturability, and feasibility of customer requests.
* Conduct design reviews with customers.
* Build prototypes using CNC equipment and program equipment with G-Code if experienced.
* Manage the engineering request process by creating drawings, documentation, and performing quality checks.
* Maintain and update CAD drawings throughout the product design and quoting process.
Essential Skills
* Ability to read engineering drawings and work instructions.
* 2-4 years of experience in an engineering role with customer interface responsibilities.
* Proficiency in CNC programming and G-Code.
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
"Nice to have" Skills & Qualifications
* Experience in furniture manufacturing.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
Work Environment
The work environment offers flexible hours, primarily operating from 7 AM to 4 PM.
The role is based in an office setting with a standard 40-hour workweek, with occasional overtime if prototyping work is required.
The company is small, with about 70 employees, including 15-20 in the office. The team operates within the Product Development and Business Development departments.

Essential Responsibilities:

Responsibilities may include design, analysis, development, and testing, writing software requirements, software testing, simulation, tool development and product/program support.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Due to the nature of our projects, US Citizenship is required.
Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA off a 4.0 scale without rounding.
Attending a full time matriculated and nationally accredited baccalaureate or graduate program in engineering (degrees accepted: Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering).
Willingness and ability to work in the United States; primary locations are: Grand Rapids, MI; and Clearwater, FL.
Reliable transportation, many of our sites do not have public transportation available.
