ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the development of routing instructions for new and existing jobs.
Assist in improving efficiencies for new and existing work, including improvement of tooling, processes, part quality and employee training.
Recommend methods of improving employee efficiency and reducing waste of material and utilities, such as restructuring, job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment and involved in purchase of equipment.
Reduce tooling costs; assist in development and maintenance of control system standardizing tools.
Resource for Supervisor and Technical Leads in correcting tooling and machining process problems. Assist in problem solving and troubleshooting of manufacturing problems in the manufacturing area.
Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, and parts, machining processes tooling and production equipment capabilities, and quality control standards.
Assist in maintaining CNC department efficiency; may operate, set up machines, program for new or existing jobs, train and/or otherwise using expertise to assist in the smooth running of the CNC department.
Assist the Engineering Manager in planning the use of facilities, equipment, materials and personnel to improve efficiency of operations and to identify areas of duplication.
Assist the Engineering Manager in analyzing and planning requirements, workflow, layouts of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
Assist in estimating production time, perform time studies, evaluate the way work is performed for maximum efficiency.
Setup, program and operate CNC machines as required.
Perform other duties as assigned or necessary.
REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline is a plus, or a combination of work experience and education considered
Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment required
Must have extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes in a manufacturing environment
Manufacturing engineering experience in a high mix / high-volume environment preferred
Demonstrated workflow and productivity improvements
Experience using technology to improve material flow
Robotic experience a plus
Mastercam experience preferred
Turning center with live tooling and vertical milling with 4th-axis programming and setup experience necessary
Knowledge of six sigma methodology is preferred
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills

Provide feedback and input on possible improvements to design standards and procedures.
Seek out mentorship from the Application Engineers to begin learning more in-depth industry standards and complex jobs.

The Engineering Intern performs functions that lead to the improvement of product lines, current processes and tools for costing commercial and industrial systems. This individual has basic knowledge of commonly-used engineering concepts, practices, and procedures. This role reports to the Application Engineering Manager.
Key Position Responsibilities:
* Utilize typical computer programs (Word/EXCEL/PowerPoint) to build or assist in building written specifications tools used by the application engineers and sales to size and quote projects.
* Provide new product line development assistance from concept to completion. Including creation of sales tools, collateral, charted drawings and design work. Incorporation of AI is ideal.
* Work with Culligan proprietary software WebCAAP to update tool with standard product.
* Work with Principal Engineer Field Service using AI or other tools to compile training manual and assist in updating existing training material in Powerpoint.
* Learn the basic theory of operation and sizing for water treatment equipment, technologies including Ion exchange, membrane, depth/carbon, chemical injection.
* Learn about typical components, construction methods and materials for water treatment equipment including pumps, valves, sensors, controls, carbon steel, stainless steel, PVC, etc.
* Work with the commercial team to understand typical customer requirements (equipment type, materials of construction).
* Provide feedback and input on possible improvements to design standards and procedures.
* Seek out mentorship from the Application Engineers to begin learning more in-depth industry standards and complex jobs.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
* Upper classman working towards Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering, or another scientific field.
* Advanced Excel skills, including Visual Basic, Macros, File linkage, Lookups, etc
* Basic understanding of water treatment systems and processes.
* Basic understanding of the function of mechanical and electromechanical components including pumps and valves, etc.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and Acrobat, Word experience with Reference Tools a Plus.
