Job Description:
IdeaVillage is seeking a hands-on Product Engineer with an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering background to support our growing portfolio of consumer products. This role will work across the full product lifecycle - from concept and prototyping through compliance, production, and launch.
The ideal candidate is technical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with overseas factories, particularly in Asia. You will collaborate closely with Product Development, QA, Supply Chain, and Leadership to bring innovative, high-quality products to market.
Key Responsibilities
Support the full product development lifecycle, from concept and prototyping through testing, production, and shipment
Evaluate product samples for performance, durability, manufacturability, and compliance considerations
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and/or electrical issues using Root Cause / Corrective Action methods
Assist with regulatory compliance, safety testing, and certification (UL, CSA, Intertek, FCC, CE, etc.)
Recommend design, component, material, and process improvements to enhance product quality, performance, and cost
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and work closely with Asia-based factories and suppliers to support development and production
Provide technical support during manufacturing and scale-up

Required Qualifications

Position Summary
The Packaging Engineer will report to the Senior Director R&D. The candidate will support on the day-to-day development activities of innovation launches across liquids, creams and the non-woven product portfolio. They will work closely with cross-functional partners as well as the external network of suppliers to bring product ideas to life from concept to execution. This individual will have a technical competency and be responsible for the creation and upkeep of packaging specifications, coordinating package line trials with external partners, and developing package testing plans to support flawless NPDs.
Primary Responsibilities
Partner with Marketing, Operations, Procurement, Quality and Finance on developing new packaging through external suppliers.
Ensuring that projects meet the brand's needs while meeting cost, quality, design and functional requirements.
Manage the creation and upkeep of packaging component specifications in specification system.
Develop testing plans for NPDs and execute with third party testing labs and component suppliers.
Identify and implement cost savings initiatives.
Visit on-site production startups and line trials to qualify new packaging componentry and new fillers.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Packaging/Plastics/Mechanical/Industrial/Chemical Engineering, or related field.
3-5 years of proven experience in package engineering & development in consumer products, beauty, or related industry.
Experience creating packaging specifications for manufacturing.
A technical acumen with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings for components and assemblies.
Strong carton board and paper experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of various manufacturing processes including extrusion blow molding, ISBM, injection molding, printing and filling.

Position Purpose:
Under the direction of Manager of New Business, this person will develop, implement and manage capital improvement projects for transmission, distribution and treatment systems, including preliminary concept development, detailed engineering design, cost-estimations, bidding, construction supervision, start up process, as-built plans, refunds calculations, easement agreements and O&M manuals for all New Business Projects. The Software Engineer Intern will assist with new product development of embedded devices for the audio-visual market such as PTZ cameras, AV Mixers, and Audio Peripherals. Working under the guidance of the software supervisor, the candidate will develop software for assigned projects in coordination with other software, hardware, and FPGA team members for design implementation and verification of new products. Responsibilities will include learning to build tools related to embedded Linux, writing code for assigned projects, participating in code reviews, test and fixing bugs.
DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
New Product Development
Work with software, hardware, and FPGA departments to create innovative new products for the AV market.
Design, implement, and verify embedded software on target platforms for assigned projects.
Continuous Improvement Projects
Assist in implementing new feature enhancements and bug fixes on existing products as assigned.
Work with the test department in the verification/validation of related firmware releases.
DevOps Support
Learn the various toolchains associated with current software development and production of our products.
Assist in the creation, administration, and maintenance of the tools associated with the development and production of our products.
Research new DevOps platforms that may improve our development process or increase productivity with the software group.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications
Education/Experience/Background:

ESRI/GIS, PowerPlan, INFOR/Hexagon experience is a plus.
