MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Support material and process engineers with active projects; * Assist in researching new materials, technologies, and potential alternatives for ophthalmic lens; * Conduct physical, chemical, and optical characterization of these materials and assemblies; * Help develop manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, extrusion compounding, film lamination, etc), and assist in troubleshooting production issues; * Maintain and organize material data sheets, test reports, and process documentation; * Attend project meetings and provide updates to cross functional partners; * Maintain a safe, organized, and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; BASIC QUALIFICATIONS * Seeking a degree in Material Science and/or Engineering, Polymer Science and/or Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0; * Legal authorization to work in the U.S. required on the first day of employment; * Knowledge on polymers, analytical techniques (thermal, optical, mechanical) and plastics manufacturing processes (injection molding, extrusion compounding, lamination, 3D printing); * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams; * Self-starter, self-motivated, with ability to complete project goals on time with attention to detail and high quality of work; * Strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative mindset, maturity and good judgment; * Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; * Demonstrated ability to maintain high standards of confidentiality; PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Previous internship or work experience in similar functions/business units; * Coursework or lab experience in polymers, optics, or plastic part design; * Familiarity with SolidWorks, Excel Macro, Minitab, or Moldflow; Pay Range: $25/hr - Undergraduate. $32/hr - Graduate.
