The On-Call Biologist will be responsible for a range of environmental consulting services, including construction monitoring, avian species identification and nest surveys, general and focused biological field surveys and support, assisting with writing and reviewing technical reports and supporting documents such as Biological Technical Reports, Biological Assessments, technical memos, and providing as-needed field and office support to our local and regional Natural Resource team members.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and execute field assignments for southern California-based work, with occasional travel to counties including, but not limited to, Orange, Riverside, San Diego, Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Ventura Counties. Conduct general and species specific biological surveys and monitoring pursuant to the relevant regulations, codes and/or industry standards. Document field findings in monitoring logs, reports, memos or email communications, as appropriate. Communicate with client field contacts and ICF senior biologists. The on-call biologist must be able to travel to remote field sites in other counties, including but not limited to San Diego, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.
About On-Call Employment with ICF
Given the seasonal or project-specific nature of our environmental work, ICF often hires environmental professionals as “On-Call” employees. On-Call employees are scheduled for work hours as they become available (we usually schedule work hours a few weeks ahead of time), and each on-call employee is free to accept or refuse the hours assigned to them in a given week. On-Call employees may work concurrent projects outside of their ICF assignment (along as their outside work does not create a conflict of interest with the work they do for ICF).
Requirements
A BA/BS in Biology, Ecology, or related discipline
2+ years of environmental/consulting and biological field experience
Must have valid driver's license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicles Records (MVR) check.
Preferred Skills
Basic documentation/data management experience
Experience working in the environmental compliance and/or construction fields (i.e., biological construction monitoring).
Geographic Information System (GIS) software skills
Intermediate or advanced nest surveying, active nest monitoring, and buffer establishment.
Basic botanical knowledge of central and southern California
Avian nest monitoring and species identification skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Ability to respond timely to deployment requests (i.e., sometimes next day)
Ability to travel to field sites in Southern California and occasionally assist with surveys in rugged, undeveloped terrain
Ability and experience conducting work in active construction sites and communicating with operators

**Position Purpose:**
This position provides specialized transportation and disposal services to our clients. Responsibilities include manifesting, packaging, spill response, labeling, loading/unloading, coordinating transportation, and sampling/profiling material while adhering to state and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations.
**Primary Duties /Responsibilities:**
+ Sample waste streams according to prescribed policies and procedures.
+ Manifesting, packaging, spill clean-up response and remedial activities, labeling, loading, off loading, and coordinating transportation.
+ Maintain a professional image to clients by answering inquiries and suggesting solutions to existing/potential problems.
+ Comply and enforce all compliance, health, safety, and procedures in accordance with VES-TS policies.
+ Become familiar with all U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT)/Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and VES-TS regulations required in submitting paperwork to expedite disposal of hazardous waste.
+ Operate and maintain all equipment in a professional manner to ensure optimum efficiency and effectiveness.
+ Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
**Education / Experience / Background:**
+ High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required
+ Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related science discipline preferred

**Additional Information**
**Targeted Hourly Pay range:** Minimum of $24 to a maximum of $26

Conduct on-site inspections, which includes documentation of site conditions, sampling, and in-person consultation
Produce professional survey reports based on inspection notes and sample data with remedial recommendations as necessary
Coordinate with multiple parties regarding inspections while keeping all parties best interests in mind
Adhere to all applicable state and federal laws and regulations and communicate that information to clients in a professional manner

APTIM has openings for a EnvironmentalTechnician to work in a team to perform solid waste composition assessments of client waste containers ranging in size from 3 cubic yards to 40 cubic yards. These assessments are typically 1-2 days in duration with typical team sizes ranging from 2 to 5 depending on the size of the assessment.
Work activities will include sorting through solid waste using hand tools to segregate waste items by type for the purpose of assessing various types of waste including plastics, paper, cardboard, glass, food waste and regulated materials. Assisting with the separation of the waste, weighing and inventorying items for the purpose of data analysis and reporting.
Work requires the ability to bend and lift 30 pounds or less, willingness to work in Tyvek safety suits, wear required safety equipment, and ability to work on your feet for up to 8 hours.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
* Sort solid waste into material categories including plastics, paper, cardboard, food waste, regulated waste, etc.
