The Environmental Field Laborer (Field Tech) must be able to work in compliance on various remediation and industrial maintenance projects. They must adhere to and maintain strict compliance with corporate/office policies and procedures, established health and safety protocols, and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
Job Responsibilities
Execution of field work encompassed in remediation and industrial maintenance projects while under direct or indirect supervision.
Correct completion of all job-specific, employee-related MER paper work including Timesheets, Daily Work Reports, Driver's Logs and Daily Tailgate Safety Meeting Forms.
Understand and work within project's detailed scope-of-work to maintain strict compliance with contract documents, project schedules, and corporate policies and procedures.
Work safely during all phases of performing the job duties required in the field.
Ability to perform work inside areas of varying dimensions; involving squatting and crawling for possible extended periods.
Ability to follow directions; read/speak and understand English; read and understand common danger placards / labels and hazardous warning literature including site safety plans.
The ability to safely drive and perform safety checks on all vehicles for which licensed.
Project work may require out of town travel for two weeks or more
Must be able to understand and comply with company and client safety standards.
Due to the diversity of both scheduled and non-scheduled projects, physical demands, and environmental conditions vary significantly depending on the project.
Work outside year round in all types of weather.

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
Performs all periodic cleaning duties as scheduled, including furniture cleaning, washing of equipment, walls, ceilings, windows, sinks, toilets, blinds, light fixtures, and refilling paper products.
Performs sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting (high ledges, sills, and door frames), and additional cleaning functions.
Collects, transport, and disposes of trash; to include hazardous waste, soiled linen, and sanitizing biowaste containers according to policy to ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
Handles and disposes of chemicals used in the cleaning process according to policy to ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
Ensures departmental adherence to proper infection control, OSHA and safety standards.
Disposes of recyclable paper and other recyclable items in designated containers
Ensures compliance standards are maintained during the cleaning of hospital specialty areas (i.e. Operating Room Suites, Pharmacy Compounding Lab, etc.).
Assists the Laundry department and Floor Techs as and when needed.
Prepares, clean, and sanitize community rooms for meetings and seminars.
Moves equipment and furniture for cleaning.
Replenishes supplies and materials in assigned areas and patient rooms as needed.
Inspects and ensures that all assigned areas are properly cleaned and in good repair as well as report any conditions requiring maintenance attention or repair immediately.
Demonstrates proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Attends meetings, mandatory training, and participate in continuing education.
Responsible for following all safety and sanitation regulations in accordance with JCAHO, federal and state, organizational and departmental policies, and procedures.

All biohazard disposal activities are performed in accordance with OSHA and hospital protocols to minimize any risk of contamination or injury.
Sterile Technique Adherence: By following the basic principles of sterile technique and adhering to the guidelines of the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN), the technician ensures that the surgical environment remains sterile, safeguarding patient safety and preventing infection.

JOB SUMMARY
The Environmental Services Technician III reports directly to the Environmental Services Manager. The EVS Tech III performs high-level time-sensitive disinfectant cleaning tasks to maintain critical patient areas. This position Assists in all activities of the Environmental Services (EVS) department with primary duties being floor care maintenance, inventory control, EVS Tech's computer software, and database training and support, and providing a clean, sanitary, disinfected, and safe environment to reduce the spread of disease/illness. STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
Responsible for performing light repair and routine maintenance on EVS powered cleaning equipment, lubricating automatic scrubbers, changing pads, installing, replacing filters, and checking batteries on equipment. Emptying cleaning agents from machines and rinsing out after use.
Performs and documents equipment and chemical safety inspections.
Operates all equipment with care and according to facility and manufacturers safety standards and procedures.
Reports malfunction of powered equipment to manager to prevent injury to operator or further damage to equipment.
Maintain inventory control of supplies and report items that need to be purchased to the manager. Shelve and organize restocked items.
Completes special environmental services-related projects and other specialty task, including specialized cleaning duties as assigned.
Performs basic floor care using dry or wet mops, floor scrubbers, and vacuums. Scrubs, strips, finishes, Shampoo, and deodorize carpeted areas and polishes patient room floor on a rotation basis.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of cleaning chemicals and the appropriate use and proper dilution methods.
Uses chemicals in a safe manner; always uses dispensers correctly to fill labeled bottles and containers with correct chemicals as trained.
Conduct environmental services pre-surveys pertaining to potential health and environmental hazards with high quality and minimal supervision.
Monitors vendor activities and services on job sites to assure compliance with relevant contract agreements (e.g., hazardous waste contract, Orkin Pest Control, etc.).
Departmental Safety Champion for communicating and implementing safety measures, changes within the department and correct cleaning procedures. Communicate effectively to resolve observations of unsafe acts or procedures.
Participates in departmental performance improvement initiatives including, but not limited to, initiatives to improve HCAHPS scores as it relates to hospital cleanliness.
Provide computer assistance and support to EVS Techs related to Employee engagement platform (Our People Matter), NOVAtime (Time and attendance), Paylocity (HRIS), NetLearning, etc.
Provides back-up support to and assists with the duties of the Environmental Services Technician I, EVS Tech II, and Floor Techs as requested.
Assists with setting up for special events, meetings, seminars, educational/training programs, and other assignments according to work orders as assigned.
Moves and sets up furniture and equipment within rooms for cleaning purposes as needed.
Safely and securely collects and transports medical waste throughout the facility; Sanitizes biowaste containers and ensures medical waste storage areas are always secured.
Monitors the delivery and removal of containers to and from the facility by the contractor.
Follows departmental procedures when handling biohazardous waste, ensuring that all red bags are tied off and/or taped as per Infection Control policies and procedures.
Observes and reports the need for repairs to equipment, furniture, building, and fixtures by way of submitting help desk tickets via Theworkhub.
Attends internal meetings and in-services and participates in mandatory reviews of policies and procedures.
