Equipment Operator I

* Inspect and maintain equipment daily, performing preventative minor repairs to assure safe operating conditions; coordinate equipment maintenance with appropriate persons or departments, to include maintaining accurate records according to established procedures.
* Participate in monitoring and maintaining appropriate inventory level of supplies, materials and equipment to efficiently complete work assignments.
* Assist in the event of any disasters as required; set up barricades, sand bridges and streets; check and inspect barricades for proper placement and visibility; cut and/or remove trees and/or debris from roadways; reset or replace traffic signs with portable signs; clear obstructions such as fallen trees; contain and clean non-hazardous spills and clear a variety of debris; patch sinkholes and set detours.

* Perform a wide variety of activities in support of streets and drainage maintenance which includes operating heavy equipment to implement temporary and permanent asphalt repair to streets or other applicable areas; to cut, fill, mill, sweep, lay and compact material in the maintenance and cleaning of paved and unpaved right-of-ways and City-owned properties; to perform excavation and grading work and/or, performing other related public works construction activities.
* Operate and maintain auxiliary mechanical equipment, electronics and attachments used with heavy construction equipment.

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:
Incumbent will also be exposed to production facilities where specific PPE will be required such as hand, hearing, foot, eye, and head protection. Physical effort is moderate to heavy. A high degree of physical effort is used due to continuous heavy lifting. Employee is lifting 35 to 50 lbs. approximately 80-90% of the time. Standing, bending, or walking is required 85% of the time. Loading ESS products can cause the employee to climb and lift in unusual positions. Securing platforms, containers and flatbeds means that the employee must be able to climb up to 8' off the ground. Pushing and pulling to place carts in close quarters takes extra physical effort. Although some items weigh more, a maximum lift of 50 lbs. is all that is required.

Opportunity Summary

We are currently looking for an experienced FINISH MOTOR GRADER OPERATOR with GPS Experience, who uses a motor grader to create smooth, level surfaces on construction sites, including roads and highways, according to precise specifications. The job requires operating the motor grader with its blade to perform tasks like grading, excavation, and shaping earth to achieve a high-quality finish.
Key responsibilities
Operating a motor grader: Using precise controls to move the blade, shape the ground, and create the desired final surface. Must be able to use GPS and must be able to FINISH.
Grading and leveling: Performing both rough and finish grading to meet project specifications, which can include cutting ditches, building up road crowns, and shaping slopes.
Site work: Moving materials like dirt and rocks to prepare and maintain the work area.
Equipment maintenance: Performing routine inspections, greasing, and adjusting the equipment.
Safety: Adhering to all company safety protocols and using proper worksite signals.
Required skills and qualifications.
Heavy equipment experience: Proficiency in operating a motor grader is essential.
Grading knowledge: A strong understanding of grading techniques and the ability to read blueprints, grade stakes, and use GPS systems is a must.
Diligence: The ability to achieve tight finish grade accuracy is crucial.
Physical and communication skills: The ability to work independently or as part of a team and effective communication skills are important for success.
