Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Assist in the loading / unloading of equipment and supplies needed for daily work assignments and properly securing work area.
Excavates trenches for and around new and existing utilities, observing safety rules, often with workers in trench.
Checks slopes using instruments such as lasers, grade rods or transit level.
Ensures work is completed to specification by observing grade stakes, material levels, hand signals and other markers. .
Assists in aligning pipes during pipeline construction for water, storm and sanitary sewer.

The Role
* Assists drill operators and locators with equipment to complete assigned projects
* Will work in and around both standard and high-risk areas with live utilities
* Will learn about utility depths and placements
* Ensures vehicles, equipment and tools are properly maintained, in good repair and secured in a safe manner
* Reviews field designs and work with drill team to communicate discrepancies to supervisor for change orders
* Properly documents all work completed to include pothole and bore logs
* Will learn and assist with conduit splicing, vault/pedestal placement and fiber/coax placement as needed
* Completes general restoration and cleanup
* Completes all projects with safety as the #1 priority, ensuring compliance with internal safety standards and all governmental orders
* Other duties as assigned
Requirements
* Underground telecommunications construction or installation experience preferred but not required
* Ability to travel daily, out of state as needed, with company provided accommodations and per diems
* Ability to work outside of business hours when needed, overtime, holidays, evenings, weekends etc., in all seasons

Acceptable Experience and Training
High school diploma or GED equivalency is required; and
Three (3) years experience in street or utility system construction and maintenance, landfill operation, or a related field, with emphasis on operating heavy equipment is preferred; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Special Qualifications
Idaho Class A CDL drivers license. Tanker, multiple trailer, and Hazardous materials endorsements or the ability to get one within six months required
Flagger/traffic control certification or ability to obtain is required;
Forklift certification may be required;
First Aid/CPR certification may be required.
