NICET Certification is preferred

Role Overview:
The Estimator is responsible to prepare time, cost and labor estimates for assigned projects, applying knowledge of specialized methodologies, techniques, principles, and/or processes. The Estimator is also expected to follow-up with clients and to overcome obstacles that could stand in the way of being awarded the contract.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Completes Quantity Survey/Take-Off. Identify and quantify construction elements. Execute accurate quantity take-off utilizing software and enter data into estimating system.
Prepare comprehensive estimates by gathering project information, conducting quantity take-offs, and negotiating with vendors and subcontractors.
Prepares Bids and Proposals. Assembles quantities in pricing format to reflect bid form requirements. Understand when and where new projects start, and complete estimate based on information in ITB. Determine what special equipment might be job specific applies best value vendors/subs to estimate. Identifies to whom we are bidding and prepares bid form.
Complete Post-Bid Activities. Follow up with client to ensure bid receipt and to identify potential obstacles in closing deals. Develop client relationship for current and future jobs.
Monitoring and update project estimates as necessary to reflect changes in scope or conditions.
Collaborate with the project management team to ensure project profitability and timelines are met.
Interface with customers to address inquiries and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
Stay updated on industry trends and regulations, recommending changes and improvements as necessary.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Accounting or related field from an accredited college or university and 2 years' related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general construction documents (i.e. plans and specifications), technical procedures, invitations to bid (ITB) and government regulations.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Coloscapes' managers, clients and vendors.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to calculate area and volume.
Ability to factor safety and OSHA requirements into estimates.
Proficiency in Microsoft software programs such as Word and Excel.
Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Planswift, or similar).

High school diploma or equivalent
Proven experience as an estimator in the fire alarm or low-voltage industry.
Strong understanding of fire alarm systems, NFPA codes, and local regulations.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
Familiarity with estimating software (e.g., Accubid, McCormick, or similar).
Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
Strong communication and organizational abilities.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems preferred
Experience with AutoCAD or similar design software helpful

The
Senior Estimator
coordinates with the Vice President of Estimating. Plans and communicates to project estimating team, in cooperation with project Estimating Manager, the vital goals of assigned projects in a project kick-off meeting using a prepared agenda based on the Project Kick-off Meeting Checklist.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
• Quantifies, analyzes, and disseminates, to project estimating team, the detailed project program (i.e. work breakdown structure, room counts, functions, areas, etc) during a project kick-off meeting.
• Prepares, in advance, an agenda for all project team meetings and holds to the agenda during the meetings.
• Directs, with the cooperation of Document Control staff, the distribution of project documents and vital project information to appropriate members of the project team and outside resources
• Reviews, interprets, quantifies, accurately estimates cost, and critically analyzes the work described in the project documents.
• Identifies and mitigates project related risk.
• Coordinates, directs, and follows-up with project estimating team to ensure timely completion of tasks associated with assigned projects.
• Coordinates with Logistics and Mechanical Electrical Managers to accomplish vital project goals.
• Solicits, collects and critically analyzes Subcontractor/Vendor budgets, bids or quotations associated with assigned projects or packages.
• Reviews and verifies Scope of Work and pricing (Subcontractor Analysis Sheets) of other project team members when acting as project lead estimator.
• Uses accepted templates for the preparation of estimates and clarifications, analysis of bids, calculation of alternates, and other tasks.
• Presents the project scope of work, estimated costs, risks and opportunities to management during the final review of assigned estimates.
• Participates in the presentation of proposals, budgets, etc. to clients and prospective clients.
• Coordinates the delivery of appropriate project files for assigned projects to Operations Staff during a project turnover meeting using the Turnover Meeting Agenda and Checklist.
• Participates and coordinates participation of project estimating team in the buyout process with operations.
• Creates professional, accurate reports and correspondence related to this position including project clarifications, cover letters, transmittals, client and subcontractor correspondence, inter-office correspondence, e-mail, etc.
