Summary/Objective

Summary: The Assistant Estimator will work independently under the direction of the Estimating Team, utilizing peer subject matter expertise in traffic control project estimating. This role supports current projects and assists Operations and Sales in securing new work by preparing accurate, timely, and competitive estimates. Prepare and review quantity take-offs, analyses, estimates, and studies for assigned scopes of work.
Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to help prepare quality bids.
Analyze plans and job requirements to estimate labor, materials, delivery, installation, maintenance, and removal costs.
Identify and communicate potential design issues, document gaps, and other potential risks.
Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Contracts and Purchasing during pre-bid efforts.
Review and understand bidding documents for material requirements to assess feasibility and product needs.
Communicate with contractors to follow up on quotes, change orders, and material requests.
When requested, provide information on specs that arise in current and/or future jobs.
Assist in generating New Approved Unit Price (AUP's) for existing jobs.

The Estimator assists the sales team in final project preparation transactions. The Estimator maintains thorough records of all project documentation, including estimates, sales receipts, and project completion documentation. The Estimator provides all site-collected documents and funds to the project management team. The Estimator follows the company dictated commission turn in procedure. The Estimator operates all technology-related equipment in a professional fashion. The Estimator maintains company vehicle in customer presentable condition & ensures all required maintenance is performed in timely fashion. The Estimator must be at work at 6:30 in the morning and attend JMR meetings daily. The Estimator must be available for emergency on-call sales.
Accountabilities:
Previous construction experience
Be trained in and use PSA, XactAnalysis, and Xactimate
Obtain Construction Training certification
Obtain Xactimate Level 1 certification
Operate and understand Matterport
Foster positive relationships with team members, clients, subcontractors and vendors
Excellent skills in verbal/written communication, teamwork, accuracy, conflict resolution, cost management and time management
Manage multiple projects simultaneously
Must be detail-oriented and follow through to completion of a project
Utilize the latest server and cloud based computer technology including: Xactimate estimating software, Microsoft Office, PSA project management/accounting software and document management software
Strong math skills
Must be able to climb ladders, scale roofs, and inspect crawl spaces
Meticulous in observation during site inspections
May work 48+ hours per week (Office hours are from 6:30 am - 5:30 pm, Monday - Friday)
May be on call during catastrophic events
Perform other responsibilities as required
Required Qualifications:
Previous construction experience preferred, but will train the right candidate
Experience with PSA, XactAnalysis, and Xactimate a plus
Level 1 certification in Xactimate or willingness to obtain
Valid Driver's License & eligibility to work in the United States
Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
No felony convictions
Compensation:
Salary $50k - $60k, depending on experience
Eligible for commission plan after 90 days and favorable review, possible earnings of 50% to 100% of your base salary
