We are currently looking to bring on a skilled Estimator based out of our office in Providence, RI. A successful candidate will perform a variety of tasks and activities in the Estimating function that may include, but not be limited to: Interpret plans, specifications and addenda to prepare accurate, timely bids. Solicit subcontractor and supplier quotes as needed. Produce schedules of values for billing. Review and interpret ASIs/RFIs and price change orders. Assist project managers, superintendents, submittals department and purchasing with job. handoff, buyout and resolving of field issues. Stay up to date with changes to manufacturer's product offerings. Occasionally prepare budget proposals for upcoming projects for general contractors, architects or consultants. Maintain subcontractor database. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities: Detail Oriented 3-5 years of Experience within the construction industry. Knowledge of computers, especially experience working with Microsoft Office Suite Ability to analyze Information, Estimate and Plan. Experience working with contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendums, specifications, change orders, RFIs, submittals a plus. Experience using Edge Estimation Software preferred Familiar with standard deliverables and work process on projects. Must have strong interpersonal and writing skills and be a problem solver. Proven ability to effectively plan and organize own activities, and handle changing bid priorities. Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors Must be able to work in environmental factors that include noise, dust, hot weather, and cold weather. Ability to lift 25 pounds Must be able to ascend and descend stairs, ladders, and gangways on a frequent basis and be able to work while standing on a continuous basis.     We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Estimator to support our growing operations in the utility and infrastructure sectors. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and timely estimates for major projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of construction methodologies, cost estimation, engineering principles, and project logistics, and have the ability to assess project risks and opportunities. Key Responsibilities: * Participate in the bidding process for major projects within the Metropolitan area. * Accurately calculate labor, equipment, and material costs to prepare comprehensive project estimates. * Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing for materials, ensuring accuracy and cost-effectiveness. * Solicit and evaluate quotes from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing and quality. * Thoroughly review and analyze bid documents, specifications, and drawings to identify risks and opportunities for project success. * Collaborate with the Project Management Team to review estimates and ensure alignment with project goals. * Prepare estimates at various stages of project development, from conceptual to detailed takeoffs. * Conduct post-bid buyouts and assist with contract negotiations. * Participate in pre-construction meetings with clients, owners, engineers, and subcontractors to establish project scope, timelines, and expectations. * Support the project team in the preparation and analysis of cost reports throughout the project lifecycle. * Perform additional related duties as needed to support preconstruction efforts. * Local travel to projects for site visits. How You'll Get It Done Prepare work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents. Ensure that all information is provided to subcontractors and vendors. Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents. Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements. What You're Bringing to the Table 5 - 8 years' experience as a Construction Estimator for a commercial General Contractor or subcontractor Post-secondary education in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Self-motivated, with keen attention to detail and an ability to collaborate. In-depth knowledge of local subcontractors, estimating skills and construction practices. Ability to accurately understand plans and specifications for each project. Solid understanding of data analysis methods. Familiarity with estimating software systems, we use advanced Excel sheets. Ability to work within a fast-paced environment. Critical thinking and problem solving.
