GPJ is hiring a Metal Fabrication Lead to join our growing team.
This role is on-site, requiring you to report to our Las Vegas office location a minimum of 5 days per week.
Your Role
As a Metal Fabrication Lead, you oversee and manage our metal fabrication operations. In this role, you are responsible for leading a team of metal fabricators to ensure efficient production of high-quality metal components and structures. Your leadership, technical expertise, and commitment to excellence will be crucial in maintaining operational standards, optimizing workflow, and fostering a productive and safe work environment. Responsibilities include supervising and coordinating the activities of metal fabricators, assigning tasks, and ensuring adherence to production schedules, safety guidelines and quality standards.
You interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to guide fabrication processes and ensure accurate fabrication of components within required tolerances. Utilizing metalworking techniques such as cutting, bending, milling, welding, and shaping, you oversee the fabrication of metal components and structures as needed. Additionally, you manage the operation of machinery and equipment, including saws, drills, shears, presses, mills and welding machines, ensuring proper setup, maintenance, and safe operation. Conducting regular inspections of fabricated parts using precision measuring instruments to verify accuracy and quality will be a key responsibility. Collaboration with engineering, project management, and shop teams to resolve technical issues, optimize processes, and meet project deadlines will be essential. You will also train and mentor metal fabricators on best practices, safety protocols, and efficient equipment operation, while managing inventory levels of materials and supplies required for fabrication operations to ensure availability meets production demands. Implementing and enforcing safety guidelines and protocols to create a safe working environment and prevent accidents or injuries will be prioritized.

Your Experience
Experience & Education
Proven experience as a Metal Fabricator with at least 3 years of experience in metal fabrication, including 1 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in metal fabrication or a related field is preferred.
Additional certifications in welding or specific metalworking techniques are advantageous.
Demonstrated experience in metal fabrication, including hands-on experience with a variety of fabrication processes and equipment.

JOB SUMMARY:
The position of Metal Fabricator performs duties in the Metal shop related to all elements of metal fabrication. Duties primarily involve welding processes but also include operating basic hand tools, component assembly, operating metal fabrication equipment including saws, drills, grinders and forming equipment that are associated with metal fabrication.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Comfortable in a team environment.
Read blueprints and drawings including weld symbols.

Keep track of stock items and report to Foreman when more stock items are needed.
Can be consulted on best practice methods and take part of the consultation process between the Dept Foreman and Production Manager.
Assist in project and process prototyping and development.
Install interior and exterior structures and fixtures.
Work with Field Operations team to ensure high quality standards are upheld.
Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
Able to provide knowledge and training on job specific tools to junior team members.
Mechanical knowledge an asset.
QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years experience in metal fabrication or similar trade.
AWS Certification is an asset.· Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.

Job Description:
General Objectives:
Reporting to the Crew Supervisor, the Welder typically works a 5/4 rotating day/night schedule. The Welder repairs and maintains mobile equipment through planned maintenance scheduling. Monitors equipment; communicates equipment needs and issues; partners with operations departments and mobile planning to provide both tactical and strategic support for the needs of the mine to operate in an effective, efficient and safe manner.
Key Areas of Responsibilities & Duties:
The key responsibilities of the Welder include, but are not limited to the following:
Lead by example, in all of Marigold's safety processes, ensuring safe practices are utilized while performing work.
Welds metal components together or cuts to fabricate or repair structural members or machinery used at the mine.
Follows layouts, blueprints or work orders to measure and set up the required work to meet standards.
Locates and repairs cracks in metal parts/structural members.
Sets up rigging to position the equipment for the work to be performed.
Must be able to interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings
Communicates and coordinates all repairs with the maintenance supervisor.
Ability to order correct parts for procurement from the warehouse or supplier
Performs work area housekeeping duties.
Determines if work areas are safe and free of hazards. Performs Field Level Risk Assessments.
Determines severity of equipment down times and estimates time to make repairs
Willing and comfortable with operating in all weather conditions
Responsible for compliance with company contamination control policies
Unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship including immediately reporting and mitigating spills and other environmental impacts.

Required Skills:
Must be able to communicate effectively, in English using all standard forms of business communication.
Knowledge of welding principles, metallurgy and mechanical principles
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and support a 24/7 operation in strenuous physical conditions both indoors and outdoors, day and night shift.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Understanding of failure and wear analysis.
Strong understanding of safety policies and procedures relating to mine equipment and maintenance practices. (i.e. guarding, blocking, lock out tag out)
Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and use proper tools and procedures for lifting
Consistent attendance.
Required Experience:
Own and maintain required personal tools required.
Minimum of 3 years' hands on welding experience using SMAW and FCAW welding process
Five years' experience in a mine maintenance environment preferred.
AWS certification using NDT inspection methods such as ultrasonic, magnetic particle and dye penetrant testing is preferred.
Experience with air arc and oxygen acetylene cutting process applicable to the repair of heavy mining equipment
Must be able to pass a welding test for technical level advancement
Valid Driver License required.
