Position Summary:
The Adjunct Instructor I can provide high level instruction to armed professionals and responsible citizens. Adjunct Instructor I will teach basic, intermediate, advanced level courses and/or instructor level courses based upon previous experience or qualifications.
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
This position requires instructor level experience and possess competent firearms skills.
Provide expert instruction of designated courses with specific focus on specialty courses as assigned using currently approved lesson plans.
Meet established course objectives and timelines on assigned training courses and support events.
Provide an optimal training environment in the classroom and on the range, utilizing SIG SAUER Academy instructional methods, practices, and procedures.
Represent SIG SAUER during events, conferences, trade shows, commercial sales events and other interactions with the public.
Flexibility to travel both domestically and internationally up to two (2) weeks per month.
Education/Experience & Skills:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
5 years of instructor level experience in providing training in safe handling, manipulation, and implementation of firearms. Law enforcement or military instructor level experience preferred.
Expert knowledge of weapons and tactics and the proper handling and use of a wide variety of firearms including handguns, rifles, shotguns and automatic weapons. Prior Armorer experience is a plus.
Expert knowledge of firearms safety practices and procedures in any environment.
Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form. Expert presentation skills and the ability to speak in a public setting.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the ability to accurately perform tasks in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask and adapt quickly to changes.
Communicate effectively to leadership regarding problems and corrective action.
Participate in 5S workplace organizational activities and maintain the area in good working order through sustainment activities.
Working Conditions:
Work is primarily standing (90 + % of the shift) with the exception of breaks/lunch periods.
The duties of this position typically require exposure to a shooting range where frequent standing, running, sitting, stooping/squatting, and walking can be expected along with frequent lifting and/or moving of equipment cases and materials up to 100 pounds.
Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently at a minimum 50% of the shift, as well as undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
Must demonstrate proficient fine motor skills, be able to grip, reach, pull, and turn.
Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception and ability to focus.
Assignments will require exposure to varying climate and environmental conditions both extreme cold and warm weather conditions for extended periods of time.
Exposure to high levels of noise and hazardous substances such as lead and firearms cleaning and lubricating solvents; additional information available upon request from EHS.
Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which is required in designated areas.

Fitchburg State University has created an "Open Pool" vacancy announcement for part time day and evening adjunct faculty by discipline. The faculty chair and the divisional dean/associate vice president will review applications submitted when there is a specific need for part time adjunct to fill a course scheduled in the academic year for both the day and/or evening classes.
The application process will require that applicants designate their preference for teaching in the day, evening or both. Please attach a letter of interest and resume when applying for any part time teaching position.
Applications submitted will be maintained from July 1st through June 30th for each academic year. At the conclusion of the academic year the pool will be refreshed and applicants will be required to reapply. Applications selected to be maintained in the pool will remain active for a three year period.
