Job Summary
The Field Service Technician is responsible for performing field and in-house service work for customers, the installation and set-up of new machines, and ensuring customer satisfaction by performing high quality work in a timely manner. Service work includes installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, computer, and industrial systems and controls of mechanical equipment located in production settings.
Essential Duties
Install, maintain, and repair electro-mechanical equipment.
Travel to customer locations throughout North America to perform installations, maintenance, and repairs to electro-mechanical equipment.
Prepare and test all equipment before equipment is shipped to customers to ensure proper functioning and operation.
Load and unload equipment at Volm and customer facilities.
Train customers and operators on proper use of equipment sold and serviced by Volm Companies.
Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with equipment utilizing technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostics tools, visually and by sound.
Conduct phone service support on an “on-call” basis.
Document all installation and service work performed in a timely manner including expense reports, service reports, time sheets, etc.
Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
Required Skills and Abilities
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid US passport or passport card preferred.
Developed understanding and use of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems, including PLC and VFD controls.

Established experience working with material and resource planning systems, spreadsheets, word processing documents, customer management databases, and other applicable computer systems and data management software preferred.
Established experience in electro-mechanical principles, systems, and repair preferred.
Journeyman electrician license preferred.
Established experience building and maintaining strong customer service relationships preferred.
Physical Requirements

This position will receive daily tasking and prioritization from their site lead. The selected candidate will be responsible for operations and maintenance support of the MQ-4C Triton network and communications systems at a Forward Operating Base (FOB).
**Duties and Responsibilities:**
+ Provide real time support for flight operations and maintenance, addressing any issues related to communications and networking to include fault isolation, remediation, and resolution.
+ Perform field integration, troubleshooting, and repair of communications and data link systems in military flight test environment, including operations on a flightline, in a hangar, and in command-and-control centers.
+ Adherence to checklists and procedures to ensure repeated success and providing redlines to procedures when necessary.
+ Communicate complex technical issues to local support, the Degrader Action Cell (DAC), Main Operation Bases (MOBs), and Responsible Engineers (REs).
+ Support and lead air crew engagement for proper techniques in solving complex analysis of technical problems that arise during operations.
+ Assist with trend analysis as needed for Responsible Engineers (REs).
+ Perform/support review and analysis of supplier design data and definition of functional test requirements including acceptance, qualification, and system integration.
+ Take responsibility for the testing, maintenance, and integration of Comms and Networks equipment to include radio terminals, software loads, switches, routers, and firewalls required to support ground and flight test operations.
+ Work with system admins, maintainers, and onsite personnel to troubleshoot and repair any internal operational issues.
** The selected candidate will be put on a temporary Domestic Assignment and will report to our San Diego, CA site daily prior to international deployment while clearance(s), Visa(s), and other documents are processing. The employee will go through training in San Diego during this period. **

The Instrument & Maintenance Technician III is an experienced level position requiring a large degree of independent initiative and judgment. The position works under general supervision performing assigned tasks and assures that the District buildings, facilities, and grounds are kept in good repair. Assigned tasks also include but are not limited to electrical system repairs and installations; District building and infrastructure maintenance; fabrication of irrigation structures and appurtenances; assisting with the installation and maintenance of the SCADA system; and performing related work as required. Incumbents will go through FIDs Core Values training and consistently demonstrate FID Core Values respective to the training received.
This is a position reporting to the Shop Supervisor.
This position is considered safety-sensitive and, therefore, is included in the random drug screening program.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
This position does not supervise. However, all employees have responsibility to orientate, train, and assist employees of lower-level classifications.
EXAMPLES OF INSPECTOR DUTIES:

Troubleshoot electrical system problems and calibration.

Install and maintain the mechanical and electrical aspects of the SCADA/Telemetry system including but not limited to automatic gates, flow meters, stilling wells, level sensors, staff gauges, automated trash rack, trash rakes, radios, PLCs, and other electrical equipment.
Repair a variety of electrical hand tools drills, saws, etc.
Respond to emergencies and breakdown of SCADA/telemetry systems, water control devices.
Weld or perform repairs on mobile equipment in the field and in the shop.
Inspect, maintain, repair, and advise on contracted repairs to pumps, automatic gates, propeller meters and automatic trash racks.
Oversee building maintenance projects.
Prepare specifications for contractor proposal requests.
Keep records of designs, repairs and maintenance.
May be assigned to work with construction and maintenance crews.
May be assigned special projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, Licensing and Certificates:
Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain knowledge and abilities would be:
Grade I Apprentice level position. Under the guidance of an experienced colleague, this apprenticeship offers specialized training through on-the-job training. This role involves tasks such as learning and adhering to workplace procedures, following health and safety guidance, completing tasks to gain the qualification to move up in grade. Exposed to a diverse range of tasks to develop the skills and abilities necessary to function independently at higher grade levels. Will assist with documenting standard operating procedures for a variety of tasks and activities.
Consistently demonstrates self-motivation and proactively looks for potential problems and designs successful solutions. May require supervision for most tasks. This grade requires a minimum of two (2) years of full time, paid work experience successfully installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical equipment, wiring, and systems, with a preference of working with high voltage (480) in an industrial setting. In addition, successful completion of the following classes:
Fresno City College courses
Maintenance Mechanic MMCTC-372 Electrical Fundamentals, or approved equivalent
Cal Poly Irrigation Training and Research Center (ITRC) short courses:
Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Basics

Grade II Meets all Grade I qualifications. Operates under limited Supervision. This grade requires a minimum of six (6) years of full time, paid work experience successfully installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical equipment, wiring, and systems up to and including working with high voltage (480) in an industrial setting. Has a proven track record of efficient completion of tasks, and ability to complete projects with and without other staff members, exhibits a high level of quality control over work product. Well-rounded experience in HVAC maintenance, fabrication and welding, plumbing, and general building maintenance, and has the proven ability to teach others and consistently offers expertise to others in the organization. Engages in continuous learning and stays up to date with best practices and changing technology.
Grade III Meets all Grade II qualifications. Does not require any supervision. In addition, this grade requires a minimum of eight (8) years of full time, paid work experience successfully installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical equipment, wiring, and systems up to and including 480 volts in an industrial setting. Must demonstrate excellent independent competence across entire range of duties and responsibilities assigned to this job position.
Licenses and Certificates
Driving is an essential function of this position. Possession of a valid California class C drivers license may be required at the time of appointment. Failure to obtain or maintain such required license(s) may be cause for disciplinary action. Job Summary
Under the general direction of an appropriate administrator or the leadership of a senior level Information Technology (IT) Professional, the Equipment / Systems Specialist supports the mission of the department and the University by providing services and support in the Classroom and Video Services (CVS) team. Working with other technical staff to assure that our mission is administered and performed in a timely and professional manner to provide training and technical support to the faculty and staff of the campus community. The incumbent serves as a primary IT resource on all assigned topics and for multiple clients.
