Our Raleigh, NC office is seeking an Environmental Engineer, Geologist, or Environmental Scientist with a background in environmental site assessment and remediation to join our multi-talented team. Under supervision of senior staff, you will be responsible for leading field investigations and support data analysis, report preparation, and remedial evaluations of contaminated sites. What You Will Do:
As an NDT/NDE Technician, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the structural integrity and safety of our projects by visually inspecting structural steel, including bolted and welded connections. You'll be engaged in fieldwork that may involve safely climbing steel structures such as buildings, cell phone towers, and water tanks to heights exceeding 200 feet, using fall protection equipment and personal fall arrest systems.
Inspection and Non-Destructive Testing: Conduct inspections and deploy non-destructive testing methods to uphold impeccable quality standards. A significant portion of field inspection time is spent performing non-destructive testing (NDT) duties such as ultrasonic inspection (UT) of welds and/or magnetic particle testing (MT) of welds.

Equipment Maintenance and Calibration: Maintain testing equipment in working order and calibration; can include managing field and laboratory equipment inventories, formal calibration records, and participating in quality systems audits.
Report Creation: Craft detailed reports to effectively communicate findings.
This position may require working 50+ hours per week (during periods of peak workload), as well as off-shift and weekend work, as needed. Experience in Safety, DDC, NDT, and Radiation Training, including the use of fall protection equipment and personal fall arrest systems, is a plus.

Senior Technician (IV):

Ability to mentor less experienced construction staff and interns
Ability to train and coach less-experienced construction staff in testing and observation procedures
Coordination and direction of others on projects requiring multiple construction staff
Assisting the project manager with plan and specification review for proposal preparation, project assignments, and training
Serve as a Special Inspection agent, based on certifications and local IBC requirements
Assisting the project manager with resolutions for deviations from project plans and specifications
Education/Experience Qualifications:
High School diploma/GED
Technician I:
0-2 years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials
ACI Certifications preferred
Technician II:
2+ years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials, or equivalent experience, and an associate degree in a related field
ACI Certifications preferred
Technician III:
3+ years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials, or equivalent experience, and an associate degree in a related field
ACI Certifications required
Additional certifications through ICC, NICET, and/or DOT are preferred. Can vary based on experience
Senior Technician (IV):
5+ years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials. Oversight and/or mentoring experience of junior staff preferred
ACI Certifications and additional certifications through ICC, NICET, and/or DOT are required. Can vary based on experience
Required Qualifications:
Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
Proficiently complete data entry into multiple software applications on a smart device, using Microsoft Office and email
Effective math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure
Preferred Certifications:
American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I, International Code Council (ICC) in the areas of construction materials, Post Tensioning Institute (PTI), and/or other certifications, depending on the level of experience
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment, such as:
Working the majority of the time outdoors in varying weather conditions
Walking over rough and uneven terrain
Standing up to 8 hours a day, up to 12 hours on occasion
Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
Maneuver field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground and around active construction sites
Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary
Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
Compensation and technician level will be based on experience and industry certifications.

Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Geologist III to be based in our Raleigh, NC office. This position will support our Remediation team within our Environment business line. This position is expected to begin immediately.
The Geologist III will serve as a team member in the office and the field, assisting project and program management with design and implementation of soil, groundwater, sediment and surface water investigative and remediation programs, data analysis, and report preparation.
The role will be responsible for the overall management administration to project and assists in establishing project-specific objectives and policies. The department is involved in many on-going efforts and continue to utilize top talent to exceed performance expectations.
The job responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to:
Collaborate with team members and project managers to meet client needs on schedule and within budget.
Utilize various techniques to generate data from remedial or investigative field work. Field work includes but is not limited soil/groundwater/vapor sampling, soil boring/monitoring well installations with various drilling techniques (i.e., DPT, HSA, sonic, air rotary, mud-rotary, etc.), operations and maintenance of remedial systems, etc.
Record and manage data in EQuIS (or similar) database
Proficient use of GIS, CAD, or similar to generate geologic cross-sections, potentiometric maps, or other figures.
Work independently or with minimal direction to prepare draft technical documents.
Project and task management, client interaction, proposal writing, and cost estimating under the supervision of senior project management staff.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BA/BS in Geology, Environmental Science or related field + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Valid U.S Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review
As a condition of employment, candidates must pass a drug screening
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds and safely drive a full-size pickup truck.
Ability to travel up to 50% per business needs
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree in Geology, Environmental Science or related field
5+ years of experience in environmental consulting with focus in site assessment and/or remediation
Experience performing and leading site investigations that included soil/groundwater/vapor sampling, soil boring/monitoring well installations with various drilling techniques (i.e., DPT, HSA, sonic, air rotary, mud-rotary, etc.), analytical data interpretation and reporting
Experience working in NCDEQ Programs, specifically the Dry-Cleaning Solvent Cleanup Act (DSCA Program), Underground Storage Tank (UST) Section Trust Fund, Brownfields, and/or Registered Environmental Consultant (REC) Program.
Current OSHA 40-hr Hazardous Waste Operations Training
Proficient with independent task management and tracking towards project management
Proficient with technical writing (remedial investigation reports, corrective action studies, etc.)
Professional Geologist license or in process of obtaining (GIT)
Current OSHA 30-Hr Construction Training
Proficient experience with ArcGIS and/or CAD
Familiarity with State (i.e., NCDEQ, SCDHEC) and Federal Environmental Regulations
