TYPICAL ACTIVITIES
Typical activities of GraduateAssistants may include: (1) assisting in the instruction of students by conducting small discussion groups related to large lecture, supervising laboratory periods, workshops, or other course activities, assisting by handling equipment, performing demonstrations, maintaining office hours to provide direct individual contact between student and graduateassistant, clarifying course material or course content for students; (2) providing assistance to faculty conducting authorized research by collecting and arranging data, developing source materials, summarizing reports, searching the literature and compiling bibliographies, developing and operating research equipment, preparing and caring for research materials, assisting in the conduct of experiments, etc.; and/or (3) generally assisting faculty in evaluating student work and examinations; preparing course materials and aids, or performing other functions requiring knowledge and background beyond that generally possessed by undergraduate assistants.
Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and Abilities
: Knowledge of the subject matter of the discipline in which assigned. Ability to relate well to others within the academic environment; ability to supervise, assist, and train students; and ability to assist faculty in the conduct of special projects/research within the discipline.
Experience
: For the initial appointment, evidence of satisfactory achievement in previous academic work. For subsequent appointment, evidence of satisfactory progress toward completion of the degree.
Education
: Equivalent to completion of the requirements for a bachelor's degree and registration in a CSU graduate degree program. Students enrolled in credential programs are not eligible for this position.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
BA Degree in hand by time of appointment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation is valued. Evidence of exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at program level is preferred and should be noted in application.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Psychology is one of the largest departments at CSUSB, with 26 full-time and 26 part-time faculty, approximately 100 graduate students, and 1400 undergraduate students. The department offers one undergraduate major in Psychology with three formal concentrations - General Psychology, Biological Psychology and Industrial-Organizational Psychology. In addition, the department houses three master's programs: Clinical/Counseling Psychology, Psychological Science, and Industrial-Organizational Psychology. We offer the entire undergraduate major at both the San Bernardino and Palm Desert campuses.

Job title and description: GraduateAssistant - Academic Coaching
The Academic Coaching GraduateAssistant will act as a liaison between the Learning Commons and communities within the Stockton and Turlock campuses. The academic coach provides coaching to students on learning strategies and college success skills, promotes services, and connects students to resources. The academic coach will participate in online and in-person staff development, facilitate academic success workshops, assist with data input and tracking, contribute to research, develop marketing materials, conduct outreach to students, refer students to Learning Commons and campus resources, and work on other projects as assigned. By working with the Learning Commons to promote services, coordinate support interventions, implement culturally responsive learning support models, create learning strategy resources, and assist with data collection and assessment efforts, the graduateassistant will play a critical role in increasing student success.
We plan to hire two academic coaches with one academic coach focusing on the Stockton campus and one focusing on the Turlock campus.
Wage/Salary: Approximately $1623/month based on 19 hours worked/week and at 0.5 FTE
Hours per Week: 20 hours
Location: Coaches will be assigned to the Stockton or Turlock campus with most of their work hours occurring on that respective campus. Some travel between Stockton and Turlock campuses for meetings, collaborations, and trainings will be needed.

Finance is offering a paid 12-16 week summer internship opportunity for graduate-level students. Participating interns work under the direct supervision of an experienced fiscal, policy, or research analyst and gain on-the-job training that integrates education, career development, and public service. Finance employees advise the Governor's Office on policy and budget issues in areas such as health care, education, environmental regulation, and public safety.
During the summer, interns will independently gather, evaluate and analyze information on an assigned project. Interns perform analysis on policy or statewide issues and apply analytical techniques learned in their graduate programs to a practical issue facing Finance or the State of California. Interns will observe professional staff in action; attend staff meetings, lectures, or other unit activities; and may attend hearings and other proceedings. At the completion of the assignment, interns will complete a deliverable which can include a formal presentation, issue paper, and/or internal memo describing the analysis, including findings and recommendations. Deliverables may be incorporated into a larger work product that Finance may produce.
Interns will have opportunities to interact and network with fellow interns throughout the duration of the internship. This interaction will provide positive learning benefits and opportunities for information sharing.
Interns are not guaranteed a job at the end of the internship; however, interns should explore the possibility of earning academic credit through their schools and Finance will provide information on future analyst career paths available at the department.

Under the close supervision of the Staff Services Manager I, a Graduate Student Assistant (GSA) initially assists one or more Senior Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors to determine vocational rehabilitation potential and eligibility for services of adults, youth, and students with disabilities. Works a minimum of (30) hours per week as a Graduate Student Assistant in a trainee capacity to assist in the delivery of a wide range of vocational rehabilitation services. The GSA receives training and gains practical experience from observing and assisting the counseling staff in the district.
The GSA will help facilitate the effective delivery of Pre-Employment Transition Services to Potentially Eligible and eligible students with disabilities, ages 16 through 21. The GSA counsels with, plans, arranges for, and coordinates the vocational rehabilitation of persons with physical and mental disabilities which are substantial impediments to suitable employment once they have been trained. They analyze and interpret medical, psychological, and vocational information for the purpose of developing rehabilitation plans. They develop and maintain timely and necessary case documentation. Serve as liaison and consultant to employers and community organizations regarding opportunities and considerations related to hiring individuals with disabilities.
Telework:
Under Government Code 14200, this position is a hybrid, in-office/telework position, and may be subject to change. Incumbent must live and work in California. Incumbent can be required to report to the office, or any designated location at any time. Telework agreements can be modified and/or cancelled at any time.

Working Conditions
Graduate Student Assistants are not allowed to work more than 1500 hours in a calendar year. The anticipated time worked will be 30 hours per week. If selected, the employee will receive an hourly compensation based on the number of hours worked.
