ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY We are hiring for a Seasonal Intern for our Golf & Grounds team for the approximate period of mid-May 2025 to mid-August 2025. The Intern is responsible for developing a well-rounded knowledge of golf maintenance and become specialized in certain fields. Along with formal education, this summer placement will help the student intern prepare for a Golf Superintendent career. This position will require hands-on work and passion to assist the Superintendent and his team, maintain several Golf Courses, including a PGA course over 400 acres of land. It may also lead to opportunities to represent the Westchester Country Club in a professional and positive manner when attending professional seminars (Metropolitan Golf Course Superintendent's Association meeting and others…) WHAT YOU'LL DO The Intern must complete all tasks and assignments assigned by the Director of Golf & Grounds, including but not limited to: * Assist team members in Golf course set-up and overall preparation for daily operation * Assist team members in all grounds management assignments, including but not limited to: * Manual and mechanical sand trap raking * Mowing * Irrigation * Hand watering * Syringing * Fertilizer and pesticide application * Aerification * Topdressing * Seed and sod work * General clean up * Assist and/or shadow team members during intermediate equipment repairs to assure proper operation and reduce breakdowns * Assist in light and intermediate construction projects * Engage in continuous on-the-job training WHAT YOU'LL NEED * Must possess a strong sense of direction, with the ability to plot and remember landmarks and understand maps * Must have common knowledge of pesticide application equipment, turf related diseases and insect problems * Must have ability to perform basic math for chemical calibration * Must have ability to perform intermediate mechanical repairs, including change oil, filters, plugs and tires, and provide general assistance to mechanics * Must have ability to operate a tractor and Cushman, including knowledge of calibration procedure and protective clothing * Must have demonstrated proficiency in distinguishing Club courses, various hole numbers and other areas of the grounds including sprinkler heads and valve boxes * Must possess, or have ability to develop, basic knowledge of various aspects of Golf & Grounds maintenance, including maintenance standards and equipment operation * Must have strong attention to detail * Must have ability to work variable schedule, including flexible shifts * Must have ability to work outdoors, including in various weather conditions * Must be safety and efficiency-minded, following safe operating procedures at all times * Must have demonstrated desire to contribute to the over all improvement of playability and aesthetics of Club courses and grounds * Must have desire for continued education in field, including participation in training sessions, field days and specialized seminars * Must demonstrate strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with team members, Members and guests PAY RANGE $19.00-$21.00 hourly compensation, commensurate with experience OUR TOTAL REWARDS ALL team members enjoy free lunch and dinner meals, free parking, a lifestyle discount program, and numerous recognition events and activities throughout the year.

    The Insect Monitoring Intern reports to the Senior Ecological Monitoring Coordinator and Director of Ecological Monitoring. This is an opportunity for individuals currently studying Environmental Science, Biology, or a related field who are interested in participating in and supporting an extensive ArcGIS-based ecological monitoring program on a diversified working farm, primarily on pastures grazed by cattle, goats, and chickens. As an Intern, your work will help build an understanding of how decisions affect the health of the soil, water quality, plants, and biotic communities we steward. This work will inform creative solutions to food system issues and how our food choices can impact the land. Working under a variety of field conditions (e.g. sun, heat, insects, rain, and dense vegetation), you will deploy diverse trapping methods to sample insects from across the farm landscape. Sampling will involve both deploying passive traps and more active trapping methods (such as sweep netting). This position will also include some laboratory components; processing, photographing, and analyzing the insect samples and preparing them for archiving or further analysis. While insect sampling will be your primary focus, all interns will be expected to work collaboratively to achieve the overall goals of the monitoring program. This individual will gain a deep understanding of how the ecological data is used in conjunction with various areas of focus on the farm through collaboration and scheduled check-ins with Stone Barns Center leaders and other interns. This cross-departmental opportunity will allow the individual to obtain valuable professional work experience, knowledge and skills. Equinox Personal Trainers provide personalized attention, professional instruction, and exercise programming to maximize each member's health, fitness, and wellness goals while providing the highest level of customer service. Internship Program The Equinox Personal Training Internship offers students a unique opportunity to learn and work alongside fitness industry experts in our cutting-edge facilities. This program bridges academic knowledge with real-world experience, helping students develop essential skills for a career in personal training. While the internship is hosted by Equinox, the training provides broad applicability to related businesses. Participants can also access Equinox's specialized education through our proprietary education, the Equinox Fitness Training Institute (EFTI) and connect with Coach, Coach+ and Coach X trainers. Internship duration is flexible to suit academic needs, with mandatory paperwork due before commencement. Throughout the internship program, interns will be required to complete a variety of large and small projects that will encourage them to fully immerse themself into the business that will also mimic curriculum that a student will see in their undergraduate education. The following are examples of potential smaller projects: * Study one injury per week, documenting causes, signs and symptoms, treatment, rehabilitation, and prevention * Become familiar with all possible specialties and/or certifications that the intern is potentially interested in studying/receiving in the future * Design programs based on two selected trainers who are specific in their PT goals, any notable injuries, athletic history, etc. (can be hypothetical) * Research the following conditions: Hypertension, Diabetes, Pregnancy, CVD with points on cause, physiological implications, benefits of exercise on the conditions, exercises to help, and exercises to avoid * Weekly connects with supervisor to review progress on weekly objectives and set up actions for the upcoming week * Member experience & engagement activities: fitness Specialist Shifts, front desk support, member reach outs, etc. Application Process: * The screening process for this program prioritizes criteria that assess the applicant's potential for learning, enthusiasm for the subject matter, academic achievements, and relevant coursework. * Students must be eligible to earn academic credit for their work * At least 2-years completion towards an undergraduate degree: Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Personal Training, or other applicable majors preferred * An outgoing and personable disposition, able to socialize with others * A passion for fitness and helping others reach their health and wellness goals * Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment * Customer-service oriented and an ability to understand or quickly grasp, customer priorities and terminology * Effective oral and written communications skills * Results oriented with an ability to organize, prioritize and manage time * Previous Personal Training experience preferred but not required * This role is an educational and training opportunity, not employment. Interns will not displace or perform the function of any paid employee. * Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. Interns will not be Equinox employees for minimum wage or other purposes. Interns will not receive any wages or employee benefits for their participation in the program. * While qualified graduates may be considered for employment, interns are not guaranteed or entitled to a paid job or offer of employment at the conclusion of the training period. * Duration: The duration of the program is negotiable depending on the requirements of the intern's university.
