+ A laborer assists the electricians with manual labor tasks. **Job Working Conditions and Environment:** This position is physically demanding and often requires working outdoors while exposed to all types of weather conditions and while working in all types of environments. For example, the incumbent may be required to work, depending on the job location and the time of year, in the heat, cold, rain and snow. This position also requires working at extreme heights, in areas that are under construction, or in restricted areas such as a switchgear room, manhole, utility tunnel, crawl space or attic. The incumbent must be able to access work areas that are accessible only by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladders or stairs that are under construction. Additionally, this position requires flexible work hours. In order to get a project completed on time, laborers are often required to work overtime, weekends and night shifts. The incumbent must work in the presence of customers and their representatives with little or no interference or disruption to the customer while maintaining a professional and courteous image. Responsibilities **The incumbent is responsible for:** + Erecting and disassembling scaffolding, shoring, braces, and other temporary structures. + Loading and unloading trucks and distributing electrical materials, machinery, and tools to the appropriate job site locations. + Hauling and hoisting materials. + Digging ditches, moving materials, and cleaning job site as the project progresses in order to assist electricians. + Site clean-up Qualifications **Years of Experience:** + Prior work related skill, knowledge or experience is helpful but not required. **Formal Education:** + The incumbent has a high school degree or the equivalent. **Certifications:** + The incumbent must pass a background investigation and a drug test. + Must have reliable transportation and be willing to work on M.C. Nature of Work Under general supervision, this individual performs skilled plumbing work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water and waste disposal systems, equipment, and fixtures. Work involves performing a variety of repair or replacement functions related to plumbing, minor electrical work related to hot water heaters, disposals, and dishwashers. Responsibilities: Loads and unloads trucks, and other conveyances. Moves supplies and materials to proper location by wheelbarrow or hand truck. Stacks materials for storage or binning. Collects refuse and salvageable materials, and digs, fills, and tamps earth excavations. The Laborer levels ground using pick, shovel, tamper and rake. Shovels concrete and snow. Cleans culverts and ditches. Cuts trees and brush. Operates power lawnmowers. Moves and arranges heavy pieces of office and household furniture, equipment, and appliances. Moves heavy pieces of automotive, medical engineering, and other types of machinery and equipment. Spreads sand and salt on icy roads and walkways. Picks up leaves and trash. Clean and recycling of firing range live fire shoot house, MOUT, explosive pads, and other assigned facilities to include removing all brass, vehicle debris, cleaning all surfaces of debris. Cleaning to acceptable health and safety levels surfaces and areas for lead, gunpowder, and frangible ammo. Responsible for cleaning of bullet traps. Replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors. Using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings. Repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets. Painting structures and equipment. Repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks. Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements: Ability to obtain and maintain interim secret clearance. Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance. Must have a basic knowledge of custodial, recycling, and working with hazardous materials. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position. Physical Demands / Work Environment: Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more on a regular basis. Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, and reaching for long periods of time. Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements, including weekends and holidays. Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and around various hazards with appropriate PPE.
