The Opportunity We are seeking a Lead Inspectors for our Transportation-Construction Management (T-CM) practice in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area. As a Lead Inspector, you will monitor the contractor's on-site construction activities and inspect materials to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and other contract documents. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, be a team player, is enthusiastic, motivated, honest, and dependable. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Maintain detailed records of the contractor's daily operations including manpower, equipment, construction methods, and events that affect the work Monitor the work zone traffic control plan and identify discrepancies and potential issues Monitor the erosion control plan and identify discrepancies and potential issues Perform sampling and testing of component materials and completed work Verify the dimensions of prepared and completed work Inspect the construction work and conduct field tests Track/measure completed work quantities for payment Perform survey checks Manage the team of inspectors, coordinate their schedules, and oversee their work and records To be successful in this role, you must: Have a high school diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience. Leads client contract scoping and negotiations. * Performs technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects. * Implements the firm's project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project. What You'll Need: * Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 12 years of relevant experience * 4 years of successful management of engineering projects What You'll Bring: * Excellent technical knowledge and quality work in multidisciplinary projects including the ability to consider the impact of design decisions on the cost, fabrication, and construction of bridges and other transportation structures. * Experience with winning, contracting, and successfully delivering 4for4 (on-time, on-budget, quality, client satisfaction) on multi-disciplined or large/complex projects. Identifying and handling risk and change management independently. * Experience leading large teams including sub-consultants. * Using system tools to manage, monitor, and deliver complex projects. * Ability to apply an accrued knowledge base to innovate project efficiencies. * Serving as the lead interface with the client. * Deploying talent to other projects and developing successors to work with same client on other work.
