Job Description AECOM's Water Business Line is seeking a talented Water-Wastewater - Water Resources Engineer to support our Water, Wastewater, and Water Resources practice based in the New England Area - Chelmsford, MA, Boston, MA, or Rocky Hill, CT. The selected employee will have a primary focus on water/wastewater/water resources utility planning, design, condition assessment, and mapping for state, municipal, and private clients. The candidate will perform a variety of tasks, including site investigations, field measurements, utility investigations, capacity studies, condition assessments, conceptual through 100 percent design, cost estimating, and construction administration/observation. The successful candidate will have ample opportunities to develop professionally through frequent collaboration with senior engineers, project managers, clients, regulatory agencies, and industry-leading subject matter experts, and attendance at professional conferences. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Provide technical support for a variety of utility design related projects, including treatment plants, pump/booster stations, water line and collection line design, rehabilitation, master planning, and construction administration. Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings. Work under supervision of a senior project manager in the water/wastewater/water resources practice or senior level team members. Utilize basic engineering principles, judgement, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems. Work on routine or detailed engineering assignments involving calculations and engineering analyses. Perform work with little supervision. Propose approaches to solve new problems. Identify discrepancies in outcomes, results, and analysis of engineering tasks. Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables. Provide guidance to entry-level engineers. Record field data using tablets and GPS units. Record and interpret data, conduct analyses, prepare reports, and compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance. Perform data gathering site visits, field measurements, mapping, and observations during construction. Perform quality control review of design calculations or drawings. Software use includes, but is not limited to: AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, Bentley and/or hydraulic modeling packages. Qualifications Minimum Requirements BA/BS in Civil engineering, Environmental Engineering or related discipline + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. At least 2 years of experience in planning, modeling, and/or design of water, wastewater, and stormwater utility projects. Professional Engineer, or ability to obtain PE licensure within one (1) year of employment. Valid U.S. Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review. Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineer with 6+ years of experience planning, modeling, and/or design of water, wastewater, and stormwater utility projects Progressive experience with water/wastewater utility planning, modeling, condition assessment, and design. Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models). Demonstrated time management skills, work ethic and attention to detail. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with technicians, designers, engineers, and project managers for the preparation of high-quality work products. Ability to communicate and coordinate with clients, subconsultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public as may be necessary to accomplish assigned objectives. The ability to work productively in a collaborative team environment and demonstrate growth potential as well as a desire to learn. Detail oriented while still able to understand/comply with the big picture/goals of a project. Ability to multi-task. Flexible - can adapt to shifting priorities / work schedules.
