Job Summary The Industrial Maintenance Technician / Electrician is responsible for preforming routine preventative maintenance as well as reactionary repairs on failed equipment. Duties and Responsibilities: Observes mechanical devices in operation to ensure they are in proper working order. Diagnoses malfunctions in machinery and equipment. Dismantle devices to gain access to, remove, and replace defective parts. Ability to interpret specifications, blueprints and job orders. Repairs all production machinery and any related equipment. Assists supervisor with the maintenance of parts inventory, notifying supervisor of parts and machines needed. Lubricate and cleans parts. Recommends measures to improve equipment performance and safe work practices. Complies with company policies and procedures. Diagnose and repair electrical circuits and industrial electronic equipment Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent. What you'll do… We are seeking a skilled Electrical Technician, Automation & Controls to support the integration, commissioning, and optimization of generator packages and electrical systems within advanced microgrid projects. This role is hands-on and dynamic, requiring expertise in automation, controls, and system performance to help ensure reliable, safe, and compliant operations. This is a field position based out of San Antonio, Texas and will report directly to the Manager of Automation & Controls Engineering. You'll make an impact by: System Integration & Commissioning Contributing to the integration of generator packages, switchgear, and electrical systems in line with project specifications, safety protocols, and timelines. Carrying out and validate cable schedules, control packages, and system testing protocols. Performing start-up and performance testing activities to confirm operational readiness and safety compliance. Project Execution & Handover Supporting the transition from construction to commissioning and operations teams by confirming integration requirements are met. Tracking and closing punch list items by documenting deficiencies and assisting with resolution. Providing troubleshooting support during early operational phases following system integration. Technical Contribution Assisting in troubleshooting automation, protection, and control systems (e.g., Schneider PLCs, DeepSea Controllers, ABB Relays, SEL devices). Participating in the development and delivery of training for site personnel and contractors on microgrid operations, controls, and start-up procedures. Helping maintain documentation control and reporting, ensuring accurate project records. Collaboration & Reporting Communicating progress and technical findings with project management and integration teams. Using tracking tools to update key milestones, risks, and solutions. Contributing to identifying risks and ensuring compliance with SHE standards, company protocols, and regulatory requirements. Hands-on experience with control and protection equipment such as: Schneider PLCs, DeepSea 8660 & 8610 Controllers (or equivalent), or ABB 615 Relay, SEL 700G, SEL 700GT, SEL RTAC Experience working across multiple stages of project execution. Assist with installing new electrical systems and repairing existing electrical systems while maintaining compliance with national, state, and local electrical codes along with all Rosendin policies and procedures. Assist the Inside Wireman with measuring, cutting, bending, threading and installing wire and electrical cable systems, conduit systems and other wire raceway systems. Assist the Inside Wireman with wires and cables within control centers, distribution boxes, transformers, transducers, switch gear, receptacles, switches, etc. Work with an Inside Wireman to splice and terminate wires at junction points. Clean, gather and transport materials to electricians on the construction site. Communicate effectively with Foremen and crew members. Maintain workflow schedule to ensure all Rosendin productivity objectives are met. Performs maintenance service and repairs on production equipment including preventative maintenance. Set up and programming of PLC's, variable frequency and servo drives. Set up and programming of operator interface devices. Assembly and wiring of electrical control panels and machinery. Generation of electrical schematics and support documentation. Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and mechanical failures on existing manufacturing equipment. Advanced industrial electrical troubleshooting tasks such as diagnosing faulty electrical components and devices. Advanced electrical controls troubleshooting and calibration of PLCs, transducers, motor starters, relays, solenoids, I/O cards, thermocouples, sensors, power supplies, transformers and other control devices. Performs advanced conveyor troubleshooting/diagnostics and repairs. Advanced hydraulic/pneumatic repairs and troubleshooting. Complex shop re-builds and equipment upgrades. Identifies opportunities for machinery improvements and optimization. Completes assigned tasks on time according to schedule. Trains/mentors new hires and less experienced technicians. Experience, Skills & Education: Requires 7+ years of experience in the industrial manufacturing field or in a related area. 7+ years electrical troubleshooting and system diagnostics. 3+ years PLC programming and debugging. Proficient in the use of test equipment such as Multi-meter, Megohmmeter, Ammeter, oscilloscope, etc. Comprehensive understanding of Electro-mechanical components and their function(s) in automated manufacturing equipment. Proficient in the use of automation software packages such as Direct Soft, C-More Designer, Do-More Designer, Motion Works, etc. (or a combination of other Industrial Automation Software). Advanced computer skills. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.). Knowledge and experience with AutoCAD. Knowledge of communication standards common to industrial control environments (e.g., RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, Ethernet IP). Knowledge and experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems and associated control devices. Knowledge and experience with National Electrical Code and UL508A Standards. Proficient in the use of tools and equipment common to the trade. Expert electrical troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing environment up to 480VAC. Advanced PLC, Electrical Controls, VFD, and servo systems experience. Ability to read/understand electrical schematics, mechanical drawings and other technical documents. Creating new electrical schematics, hydraulics/pneumatics diagrams and any other drawings related to automated manufacturing equipment. An Electrical Control Technician at Encore Wire will be primarily responsible for the safe rectification of machinery and equipment used in the various production plants and throughout the facility as directed by Supervision or Company dictated equipment priority. The Control Technician must be able to work on all facility wide electrical systems. A good understanding and experience of all mechanical and electrical disciplines is needed, these would include hydraulics and pneumatics.
