The position is responsible for inspecting customer premises, testing backflow prevention devices, identifying cross connection risks and potential solutions, and communicating corrective action to customers. In addition, this position will also be responsible for responding to field service complaints related to service, billing, and water quality on an as needed basis. Applicant must have a high school diploma and a valid Connecticut driver's license. Must also hold a Connecticut State Department of Public Health license as a Cross Connection Tester and Cross Connection Surveyor for Cross Connection Control. Must have excellent communication, teamwork, and customer service skills, and be familiar with computer systems. A minimum of five (5) years' experience in water utility work or in related testing/inspecting. Knowledge of AWC service areas and distribution systems, ability to read, interpret and understand mechanical and detailed plumbing diagrams and blueprints are preferred as well as inspecting and testing experience. Principal Responsibilities Position requirements are as follows: Inspect customer premises and identify/characterize existing cross connection risks, identify solutions, communicate corrective action required and associated costs to customers or contractors, and record all necessary information. Test and repair backflow prevention devices, determine operating status, record data, communicate compliance status to customers, issue bills for testing, repair and material sales. Must be able to work effectively with customers, contractors and local health officials to get violations corrected and devices repaired in a timely manner. Maintain a current and thorough working knowledge of cross connection control regulations. Must be able to respond to customer complaints regarding service and represent the Company at service calls. Must be able to locate service lines and curb boxes, install new piping and repair existing lines. Operate gate valves, fire hydrants, and other appurtenances. Preferred Requirements Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing Company and Connecticut State Health Department CCC policies, rules and regulations to customers. Must be able to utilize SAMS mobile device to receive and process related to service work orders and document relevant data to complete assigned work. Must perform confined space entry as part of 2-person crew while employing all appropriate safety apparatus. Must be available for emergency work outside normal working hours or standby duty. Must be able to drive, walk, sit, stand, kneel, climb, and bend for extended periods and lift more than 100 pounds. Perform other duties as assigned. Must possess a working knowledge and understanding of mechanical and/or electrical systems. Experience with the operation of personal computers. Problem Solving: Situations normally encountered will be variable; must be able to identify recurring and non-recurring operating conditions and maintenance needs requiring adjustment. Compensation will deoend on the current licenses of the successful candidate. Record all results on Stamping Inspection Report Maintain “Start-Up Retains Bank” located in the Toolmaker work area. As startups are approved, one raw and one anodized sample from the Start-up will be marked with the approval date and placed in the appropriate bin to be referenced on future start ups At the beginning of each shift Stamping Q.C. Inspectors will review each press and ensure correct labels, gauge plan, part drawing and correct skid tags are being used Keep Department QC Stations and/or QC Work Areas orderly at all times. Double check to make sure proper prints, gauging and inspection plans are at each press and in the QC areas as assigned. Inspect and report inspection results for New Product Development (NPD) by completing the applicable Stamping Quality portion of the First Piece Submission Routing Form Any other duties that may be assigned, including data entry, QC checks on discrepant materials, production and quality reporting, filing and maintaining paperwork, etc. Assist with any other duties and projects as required QUALIFICATIONS Must be proficient in gauging methods and procedures. Must maintain an excellent attendance record. Must be able to work independently without constant supervision and be able to work overtime as needed to cover absences. This individual must be able to read complex drawings and perform inspection operations as required using measuring instruments such as micrometers, verniers, dial indicators, and direct reading instruments such as air gages, plug gages and torque and radial clearance gages and Rockwell hardness tester. This person must be able to select the appropriate inspection instrument, perform inspection operations according to a specified sampling plan and prepare necessary paperwork when parts fail to meet print specifications. This individual will be responsible for reporting any discrepancies to either the leadperson(s) or the supervisor. Introduction The mission of the New Haven Health Department is to ensure and advocate for the health and well-being of all New Haven residents. The Bureau of Environmental Health maintains as its principal goal the preservation and protection of the environmental quality of the City of New Haven. Work includes: Utilize and enforce applicable sections of the State Public Health Code, State Statutes, and Municipal Ordinances Resolve cases of childhood lead poisoning; provide educational outreach activities and assist with distribution of federal lead abatement funds to prevent lead poisoning. Investigate and resolve public health nuisances and infractions of applicable statutes and/or ordinances Assist in preparing for and responding to public health emergencies Lead is a poisonous substance found in most homes in New Haven, especially those built before 1978. In fact, over 80% of New Haven homes are likely to contain lead. When exposed to lead, children or adults can have permanent and severe health problems. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS This is a technical position under the general supervision of the Environmental Health Program Director or designee in the Department of Health to perform investigations, education, and outreach for the prevention of childhood lead poisoning. Work includes inspections for the purpose of determining the presence of lead-based paint and surface coverings and lead in soil, dust and drinking water. Work is performed within the framework of existing laws, ordinances, policies, and regulations. TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Inspects buildings and dwellings for possible sources of lead poisoning. Conducts investigations, following established protocols, of home environments of children exhibiting the symptoms of blood-lead poisoning. Performs inspections using special instruments to identify surfaces containing lead paint. Collects samples of paint, dust, water, and soil from dwellings and delivers samples to laboratory. Document findings accurately and take photographs or videos, as necessary. Follows procedures to ensure abatement of all areas containing lead paint which may pose a direct hazard to the health of a child. Reinspects dwellings after completion of repairs to ensure compliance with regulations. Confers with individual property owners relevant to service of notices and violations. Fosters a cooperative working relationship with other city and state agencies. Records test data and prepares reports, summaries, or charts that interpret test results. Prepares reports, analyses and recommendations concerning inspection duties and outcomes. May conduct special surveys relating to general environmental health disciplines. May assist in coordinating duties with other concerned agencies. Job Summary: Panelmatic is seeking a detail-oriented experienced Quality Control Inspector. In this role, you'll play a key role in ensuring that all products meet our established requirements for reliability and workmanship, as well as other quality control program standards. Job Duties: * Inspecting output samples using industry-appropriate methods, such as comparing to standards, measuring dimensions, and examining functionality, as well as electrical testing as required. * Checking that the assembly or production line adheres to standards and procedures and complies with legal requirements * Reviewing blueprints, electrical schematics, and specifications to compare to produced goods and generating an inspection report to document all deviations. * Recording inspection results by completing reports, summarizing re-works and wastes, and inputting data into a quality database * Assist in training the production team on quality control measures to improve product excellence * Proposing improvements to the production process * Monitoring the use of equipment to ensure it is safe and discard any that do not meet requirements * Updating job knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities and regular training * Keeping measurement equipment operating accurately by following calibration requirements and calling for repairs * Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and electrical schematics. * Comprehension and operation of basic electrical measuring equipment. * Collecting and compiling statistical quality data * Assisting in the development of test methods and inspection plans * Determining the causes of product defects and reworks * Verifying all equipment is calibrated correctly * Understanding the functionality of basic electrical components for use in industrial electrical cabinets/panels. * Coordination and Support of customers during the FAT process.
