    About the job Field Service Engineer Role: Field Service Engineer (NIGHTS) 100% On-Site Hourly Range: $32.00 - $40.00 + Night Differential Pay Shifts: Nights (7pm - 7am)- Compressed Work Week This position entails the installation, service, troubleshooting, and repair of complex electronic and electromechanical equipment, site service, and field process applications and qualifications. In addition, the position is accountable for being able to operate as an independent product expert on select product lines. Capable of implementing detailed, complex customer installation plans for reliability, process qualification, and sign-off. Training customer personnel on advanced equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and process-related operations. Provides onsite technical support for developing and implementing equipment and process applications. Trains customers and other Field Service Engineers on specific product lines. Requirements: Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in a related engineering field or 4+ years of experience installing/repairing semiconductor/electronic production equipment or any of the combined. Advanced electromechanical troubleshooting skills. Experience diagnoses sources of hardware or process problems on equipment, facilities, or wafers. Hands-on skills and knowledge in mechanics and electronics Ability to use hand tools, and meters, and read/interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and schematics. Previous semiconductor experience is preferred. Knowledge of statistical process control & quality improvement process methods and terminology. Proven ability to maintain and perform repairs on company demo cleanroom equipment. Must have a valid state-issued driver's license and have acceptable driving privileges. Key Responsibilities: Assists customers and other personnel in identifying and repairing equipment-related process problems. Performs onsite preventative maintenance, cleans equipment as required, and verifies the operational quality of equipment. Performs start-up, warranty, paid service, and service contract activities. Performs hardware set-up on specified systems within established time frames. Ability to utilize training skills to troubleshoot tools to resolve issues and minimize downtime. Keeps equipment running properly and efficiently to enhance customer satisfaction. Recommends appropriate action and maintains ongoing awareness of existing and potential situations; Handles equipment and customer situations while informing Management of developments in a timely basis. Prepares and conducts local customer meetings and communicates orally with customers in face-to-face, one-on-one settings, and group settings. Communicates professionally by email and telephone, as needed. Initiates purchase orders for parts and services. Maintains and performs repairs on company demo cleanroom equipment. Keeps informed and trained on the company's most current systems, methods, and procedures, including site safety. Ability to wear proper cleanroom attire and work inside the fab/cleanroom up to 75% of the time. Survey manholes and duct systems for government run projects Occasional quality assurance inspections Occasional OSP copper and fiber cable splicing for repair Maintaining and repairing existing manholes and in-frequent installation or repair of inside telephone and network wiring. Prospective candidate will be familiar with current copper and fiber installation and testing standards and perform installations according to current base, industry, and safety standards, and legal requirements. Work will be performed based on customer submitted work orders, dig permit requests, or emergency outage reports. Work requires coordination with customers, permitting office, and other work centers. All work is to be properly documented, labeled, and recorded to include entry into electronic records systems as required. Qualifications Experience/Skills Knowledge in telecommunications systems and practices. Familiarity with copper and fiber cable installation, repair, and cable locating. Knowledge of exterior communications infrastructure to include manholes, ducts, inner-ducts, and aerial lines. Responsible for maintaining and repairing existing manholes, which includes patching leaks, replacing damaged parts, and ensuring accessibility for maintenance and repairs. Customer service experience. Ability to meet physical requirements of the positions such as climbing ladders, standing, bending, and lifting for duration of the duty day. Must be capable of working in confined spaces. Coordinates with the customer on specific requirements, and where necessary and appropriate coordinates with other contractors. Must have the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, meet with the customer tactfully and courteously and establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with customers and coworkers. Understanding of proper safety practices, procedures, and regulations applicable to work being performed in a telecommunication environment. Experience with the tools and test equipment required for the installation and maintenance of telephone and data network services. Qualifications Applicant must possess refined critical thinking skills, should be a self-starter, and possess the ability to direct the activities of other team members. Applicant must be diplomatic, multi-task capable, adaptive to a dynamic environment, dependable and reliable. Previous experience with interior and/or exterior cable installation, maintenance, and testing. Valid New Mexico driver's license and reliable transportation required. Telephone Journeyman License JS7 - New Mexico Preferred. BICSI Installer 1 or 2 preferred. Requires a DoD SECRET security clearance.
