Reading lab work including fecals, ear cytology's, platelet counts, skin scrapes, mite checks, etc. Providing exceptional medical care to critical hospitalized patients with varying diseases/ailments and advocating for hospitalized patients. Assessing critical walk-in emergency patients for stability, taking vitals, and performing CPR if necessary. Filling prescriptions and providing thorough client communication and education. Complete toe nail trims, anal gland expressions, ear cleanings, and medically necessary grooming and hygiene trims. Supervise tech students, interns, newer RVTs, and/or veterinary assistants. Perform humane euthanasia when directed by a veterinarian. Client communication including but not limited to; answering medication/treatment plan questions, relaying messages from the veterinarian, reviewing go home care instructions, obtaining accurate patient history, and more.
