Summary: Conducts highly specialized interviews with children who are suspected victims of child abuse (sexual or physical) and witnesses of abuse or violence, following the Children's Advocacy Center protocols. Supports the Multi-Disciplinary team to facilitate community collaboration in support of survivors. Supports other services of the Children's Advocacy Center as needed and available. Major Accountabilities:
Conducts forensic interviews with potential survivors of child maltreatment. Writes detailed case summaries of interviews. (Secure recordings of interviews and case summaries are shared with collateral agencies and may be used to support investigations and/or prosecution.) Implements documentation and secure sharing processes in a timely manner.
Assists with the continuity of services at the Children's Advocacy Center by coordinating cases with collateral agencies such as law enforcement, the District Attorney's office, the Department of Social Services, and the medical community.
Schedules and assists with the coordination of the multi-disciplinary team meetings. Documents team meetings and case review.
Participates in ongoing professional development activities and in state and national peer review processes.
Responds to subpoenas and testifies in criminal and/or juvenile court when necessary to clarify information.
Assists with coordinating an effective program by developing and monitoring interagency protocol policies and procedures as assigned.
Presents child abuse outreach and awareness programming independently or in collaboration with other community organizations or other Family Services staff.
Supports overall services of the Children's Advocacy Center as available by occasionally fulfilling advocacy roles with non-offending caregivers.
Provides backup coverage for crisis calls.
