Under direct supervision, performs a variety of custodial duties for assigned Child Development Center(s), inclusive of all interior space and adjunct exterior property to maintain a clean, orderly, and comfortable environment for ESSC associates, participants, and guests. Starting Pay Rate: $20/hr Responsibilities 1. Maintains administrative, eating, and child activity areas in clean, sanitary, and orderly conditions. Sweeps and mops floors, vacuums carpets, washes walls and windows, dusts desks, counter tops, furniture, and blinds. Keeps facility free of trash by emptying trash receptacles, and replacing lining of trash cans throughout the facility. Regularly cleans and disinfects all restrooms, including toilets and sinks. Removes debris from sidewalk/adjunct exterior area. 2. Follows health and safety regulations of Title 22 Community Care Licensing at all times. Notifies management of need for repairs, safety concerns or hazards. 3. Restocks cleaning supplies by placing supply order with supervisor to maintain adequate inventory levels at all times. Stores and organizes cleaning supply deliveries as needed. 4. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications EDUCATION: Typically requires High School diploma. EXPERIENCE: One year of custodial or housekeeping work experience in a hospital, child care, preschool or other licensed facility. Shampoo carpet as directed or needed. * Daily - Safe handling and use of cleaning chemicals, safe use of equipment and hand tools, safeguard buildings and/or equipment from unauthorized use, cooperate with hall staff and students in creating a safe and clean environment, work in team/crews, stock custodial supplies and closets, initiate and complete work orders. * Periodically - Perform floor care in residence hall, use of various floorcare equipment (i.e. vacuum, hot water extractor, wet vacuum, 175 RPM floor machine); sweeping, carpet extraction, stripping and scrubbing resilient tile and asphalt tile floors, carpet spotting, carpet repairs, mopping, spray buffing, applying floor finish and bonnet cleaning. Clean and maintain student rooms including windows, vertical blinds, polish and clean furniture, wash walls, ceilings, light fixtures, doors, doorjambs, vacuum, carpet spotting. * Periodically - Perform light maintenance in residence hall facilities such as lamp replacement, unclog commodes/urinals, work with common hand tools (i.e. plunger, screwdrivers, pliers, hammer, and wrenches), service vacuum cleaners (i.e. replace belt, empty vacuum bag, clean brush), move/set-up furniture, tables, chairs and miscellaneous furniture. * Periodically - Participates in University, Division of Student Affairs, and UHS staff meetings and serves on department committees as requested. Assist with emergency evacuation drills and emergencies as needed. Must be available for call out in case of emergencies. Key Responsibilities: Perform daily cleaning and sanitation of floors, walls, equipment, and storage areas inside the freezer. Remove trash, debris, and packaging materials to maintain a clean work environment. Sweep, mop, and disinfect designated freezer zones following company sanitation standards. Ensure walkways are clear and free of hazards, including ice buildup. Clean and sanitize drains, containers, shelving, and any assigned equipment. Maintain accurate cleaning logs and follow all procedures for food safety compliance (FDA, USDA, HACCP). Use industrial cleaning tools, chemicals, and PPE safely and correctly. Work closely with warehouse and production teams to ensure cleaning tasks do not interfere with operations. Report any safety concerns, damaged equipment, or maintenance needs to supervisors. Gathers and delivers recyclables to areas of central aggregation. * Conducts general housekeeping, including clean light fixtures; polish woodwork and metal surfaces; clean stairwells, walkways, and elevators. * Sweeps, mops, strips, waxes, and buffs floors, vacuums and shampoos rugs and carpets, cares for powered floor cleaning equipment. * Replaces bulbs in light fixtures, arranges and sets up furniture, equipment, supports event set up and clean up, including moving bleachers. * Makes minor repairs and adjustments to furniture and equipment, such as oiling doors, tightening screws and replacing foots on chairs and tables. * Monitors use of assigned areas, unlocking as needed and safeguarding from unauthorized access by locking doors and windows. * Reports facility repair needs identified during rounds, check fire extinguishers to ensure they are full and operational. * Operates and maintains equipment, tools, supplies, and materials to perform assigned duties; organize work materials and equipment, including loading and unloading supplies. * Operates a motor vehicle, such as a truck, or electric cart to transport custodial equipment, materials, and supplies. * Maintains awareness of safety requirements and conducts all operations with safety of staff and customers as first priority, and in accordance with the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan and other safety policies. Maintains attendance records of safety meetings as required by Occupational Safety and Health Administration rules.
