The Cytology Lab Assistant, who under the direction of the Cytology Supervisor or Manager, is responsible for specimen receiving and accessioning, gyn and non-gyn processing, receiving and making client calls, and other clerical / lab duties. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Receive and clock-in specimens from couriers timely; verify that specimens recorded on courier logs are received. Perform data entry login of patient demographics, clinical information, specimen source, and test(s) orders from specimen requisitions into computer system. Document all problem cases appropriately and contact clients/ phlebotomists/ other departments to resolve when appropriate. Retrieve and forward specimens to other departments as needed. Set up DNA specimens. Process NonGyn and Gyn specimens. Perform required laboratory maintenance. Assign and distribute slides to cytotechnologists and pathologists. Answer departmental phone calls and assists clients as needed. Contribute to a positive work climate and to the team effort of the department and company. Exercise all laboratory safety precautions and adheres to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals. Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry's best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data. A Histotechnician (HT) prepares human body tissue for examination by other laboratory professionals. The person in this position performs embedding, microtomy, and all related histology tasks. This position also performs special stain and IHC procedures as directed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Embed all types of tissue Section all types of paraffin embedded tissue Follow set protocols and procedures for embedding and microtomy Keep embedding area, microtome, and workstation clean and clutter free and maintain proper QC Maintain fresh solutions, stains and/or re-agents Perform special stain and/or IHC procedures as directed Assist with case assembly and distribution as needed File blocks and slides as needed Properly handle and dispose of hazardous waste Assists in documentation and maintaining effective department QA programs and monitors. Exercise all laboratory safety precautions and adhere to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals. Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry's best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data. The Math Tutoring Lab in the Tutoring Center provides tutoring and individual assistance to A-B Tech students in math and statistics. The primary focus of this position is the provision of quality tutoring experiences for students. TC aides assist students with acquiring the skills necessary to succeed in their coursework by working directly with students in a fast-paced, busy lab. Aides provide tutoring to students of various abilities and backgrounds. TC Aides are responsible for maintaining supplies. TC Aides implement and enforce TC and A-B Tech policies, procedures and guidelines while providing professional, helpful, and reliable assistance to students. Duties 1. Tutor students in math(various levels) and basic statistics. 2. Occasional data entry and record keeping, customer service, and general office duties. 3. Provide a positive environment for student learning. 4. Implement and enforce TC and A-B Tech regulations. 5. Other duties as assigned by the TC Coordinator. Minimum Requirements 1. Associates Degree with significant coursework in math, statistics, or a related field. 2. Thorough knowledge of the subject to be tutored. 3. Experience teaching or tutoring in a higher education setting, and/or successful prior work experience in an environment applicable to current position. 4. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Patience and ability to multi-task; 5. Basic computing skills and the ability to use a graphing calculator. Preferred Qualifications 1. Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Math, statistics, or a related field; 2. Knowledge in chemistry and/or physics; 3.
