Job Summary/Overview
The Cattle Ranch Hand is responsible for the day-to-day care and management of livestock and ranch operations. This role requires physical stamina, a strong work ethic, and a deep understanding of animal husbandry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for feeding, watering, and providing essential care for cattle
Monitor animal health, administer medications, and vaccinate as needed
Assist with breeding, calving, and weaning processes
Maintain accurate livestock records
Maintain and repair fences, corrals, and other ranch structures
Operate farm equipment, including tractors, trucks, and trailers
Transport hay, feed, and supplies
Assist with land management, including mowing, weed control, and irrigation
Perform general maintenance and repairs on ranch equipment
Move and sort cattle
Carry out branding, castrating, and dehorning
Load and unload cattle for transportation
Implement proper animal handling techniques to ensure safety
Assist with other ranch tasks as assigned, such as haying, harvesting, and construction
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Qualifications (Education, Experience, Technical Skills)
Education and Training:
A High School Diploma or GED is preferred but not required
Must be able to read, write, and understand English
Qualifications:
Experience in agriculture or livestock handling preferred.
Physical ability to perform demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
Strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
Basic mechanical skills and knowledge of farm equipment.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to ride horses (may be required for some positions).

Responsibilities

* Use of shovel to remove piles of loose coal and loose construction material within shop areas, tripper rooms, on inclines and decline walkways, and coal moving equipment.
* Cleaning the cascade room (an enclosed room containing coal conveyors) using shovels, brooms, wheelbarrows and respirators.

Work Environment

Laborers are responsible for assisting the crew and following all jobsite, health and safety regulations. A strong work ethic, positive attitude and ability to pay close attention to detail are essential for this position.
Responsibilities:
Follow project instructions from construction manager or supervisor.
Follow all safety protocols when operating a variety of tools and equipment to complete daily tasks.
Dig pits, trenches and foundations in preparation for job site construction.
Ensure construction equipment and tools are cleaned and stored properly.
Clean up the worksite when the project is complete.
Perform job tasks in an outdoor setting which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity and exposure to dust and asphalt.
Desired Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift to 40 pounds
Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures
Able to work independently or as an active member of a team
Out-of-town travel and/or overtime is a possibility
English and Spanish fluency a plus, but is not required
High school diploma/GED preferred
